And Brembo did not want to be on the hook for warranty work in the case where the brakes were abused. So part of the deal was for GM to develop a system which would detect any excessive abuse of the braking system.

Now as we all know, GM is hanging by a thread, and well they sort of forgot about this agreement until the last minute. Rather than delay the release of the car and spend all sorts of $$ on development, they came up with this ingenious last-minute fix.

If a hard stop is made from any speed above 140 MPH, the lead weights will melt, thereby indicating abuse of the system.

I have also heard that production has slowed due to a shortage of wheel weights.
You, sir, are an artist and that is a masterpiece.

Have you seen all the people screaming about not having their car, about feeling like they'd have it sooner if none were shipped to Avis first, etc? The buyers would not have taken kindly to that.

OK, last night when I went to see if I had weights, I must have missed them because it was dark out, but my car does have the same weights... sorry that I added to the conspiracy theories... all of the cars have them now.

I guess if it solves the problem, then it wouldn't bother me. Why did the wheels squeal anyways? Is it for balances the calipers or something?

Whatever they do or don't do I sure am HAPPY I get to drive a new CAMARO. And it was worth the wait. The car drives and stops great. I was just a little curious, no complaint intended. Now when can I order a Convertable?

First: CONGRATS on being the first and THANK YOU for your service to our country. Just how many weights are on yours. I have two layers with about 8 each.

I was just wondering if any of the CTF cars had any problems with the brakes squeling*?

one thing though these brembo pads will be dust monsters!!!! you will be cleaning your wheels every two days.
i went with ceramic pads that elimated most of the squeeling and dust, but sacrificed stopping distance.... if you track your car, you would want to put the original pads back on since they are much better.

changing out the pads are a piece of cake.....remove the two studs and pads fall out.....(if they are the same brembo brakes as the srt, which they look similar)
Not so far. Mrs. Number 3s car as well as Fbodfathers cars both great as was the Black 2SS I had home this weekend. Wheels are not getting dirty as you suggest. Look at all the photos I've posted. Not saying if you won't during a track day, but normal driving for a total of 12,000 miles on the 3 cars has not really shown any brake dust on the wheels.

Is it that big of a deal? Do they function properly? If so I wouldn't really care. Just my opinion.

So, people get lambasted every which way to Sunday for not liking the solution to the "pretty lights" missing from the dashboard, but a fix placed inside the wheel where nobody is going to see is sparking demand for dealer replacement?

I don't think this is a big issue.

Not really. The correct answer will be no big deal and boring.

The conspiracy theories in this thread are much more entertaining!
