2014 Heat extractors on hood
So i took the bottom part off to see what it would look like.
  Love the way how it opens it up.   My question for you is do you think there is anything bad about doing this? I dont drive it in the rain and i would cover that part up when i was the car. Anything else im not realizing might happen?

I don't see how it can cause any issues, especially with the engine cover in place.

While it is logical to think "heat rises, less stuff there is better", the car is also in motion and there are high and low pressure areas.
I too wonder if the baffles are just for water management or if they had a function In either case I don't think you're actually increasing the amount of heat removed. I think it seems that way.

Looking at the pic, it does seem that the port holes in the heat extractor piece are only to allow water drainage towards front of the car. I'm not seeing how the car brings air in through them. Unless the new wider front fascia lines up with the port holes, this means that the air from under the car must rise up, around the engine and exit through the vents. I fail to see a significant amount of added down force from the new vents. Hex vent for win!

The air flow over the hood causes a pressure difference that draws air out of the engine compartment. Taking the base off actually would help at least some small additional amount of air escape as long as you don't get a hug amount of water in there.

I'm not running the drain pan on my '11 with a '14 hood. There is a TREMENDOUS amount of heat escaping through the vent at stop lights. It's crazy to see heat mirages bellowing our from the middle of the hood at a stop haha
