You say expensive breaks squeak a lot, but my baer breaks have never squeaked since I put them on. It's been at least 15,000 miles since I've put them on I would say it would be the pads fading

So I went in to the dealer last Saturday, and they refused to even look at my car due to the fact that I have aftermarket Hawk Hps pads which THEY installed! They are blaming the squeal on the pads, saying they are made of a different material, and that's why they are making noise. I can't win! I looked a little closer a few days later, and I see a clip sticking out on the drivers side brake pad, but not on the passenger side.... What is this clip and shouldn't it either be visible or not visible on both sides? These are my front brakes Btw.

This sounds like the squealer tab perhaps? Is it sticking out from the pad and touching the rotor? Does the squeal go away when you lightly apply the brake? If it does, then your pads are worn out. I don't know why they would be so soon...mileage, driving habits, bad driving habits, riding the brake, poor pads...any number of reasons.

If it's normal than I guess there is something wrong with my camaro because my brakes don't squeal.

But that tab that is showing in the pic, isn't visible at all, or may not be there at all, on the passenger side brakes...

They make this horrible sound far after they've warmed up.... I have another appointment this Saturday. I'm gonna demand to speak to a service manager and try to get this issue put to bed. This definitely isn't the "normal" brembo brake squeal...

That tab is not touching the rotor though, that I can see, so would not be causing the squeal. I have put a slight chamfer on brakes to try to get them to quit squealing. Sometimes that helps, sometimes it doesn't. I know most of the pads you buy these days are chamfered, but not all around.

Loose parts will cause squealing too. There are so many variables when it comes to brake squeal, it is hard to diagnose or know where to even start unless a person is there to see, drive, hear and feel for themselves.

Good luck with the garage. If they put them in, they should be the ones looking at them.

But shouldn't the tab be visible on both brakes, passenger and drivers side? What purpose does it serve? Because its definitely not there on the passenger side...

a friend of mine that races bought the hawks ceramic pads and told me they melted down on him quicker than the factory pads.

If the tab is not visible then perhaps that is the problem? Is the tab broken off and stuck between the rotor and the pad causing the noise? If you are certain the tab is not there, that could quite possibly be the answer to your problem.

Good luck with this and let us know what they did.

I've had my SS just over two weeks, with only about 400 miles, and my breaks already started to make noises.
