Camaro annual plant shutdown

I ordered mine from Champion Chevrolet and Jerry Johnson said that the Camaro plant shutdown was scheduled from 6/29-7/6.

Summer shut-down. Happens at every plant every year. Just this year they're talkin' about a longer shut-down. Now the Camaro line doesn't need to change model years. but you can guarantee that they will still be doing a summer shut-down.
Maybe they'll use the time to re-tool so they can start installing factory hursts

This makes no sense at all. Why would you shut down a plant that is selling cars? At least the shutdown is only 1 week, rather than 9 weeks as many of the other plants.

You get a vacation don't you? Or do you think the GM workers don't deserve one.

Take a vacation, I will wait the one more week to have my car if that is what it takes.

Maintenance and retooling. Common practice.

If it does have the shutdown, maybe the folks that actually -build- the Camaros can actually go out and drive in them!

I thought they only did this to change model years, I don't think this would apply to the Camaro. Just got up and going and they have a backorder condition. It sounds more like people are making assumptions based on 'normal' operations.

I think if anything, mlee is closest but 4th of July is an American holiday. Any Canadian summer holidays?

It doesn't really matter one way or the other. This plant is up and running at a normal pace so we will all get our cars as soon as possible. It will take what it takes. Either way we will all be in our cars sometime this Summer or sooner.
