Do you have an idea of what specialty you might want to go into (I realize it's still REALLY early)?
So far, I'm kinda leaning towards a general medicine field like family or peds. However, I am really open yet and will definitely need the clinicals to really see what I want. I don't have a lot of exposure to the more specified specialties. My dad (M.D.) does ER and my brother (D.O.) is just about to finish his residency in ER. I do like the idea of the work they do, however the hours are so ridiculous; I'm not sure if it's a fit for me.

Peds was my reason for going into medicine, but after clinicals I found I really enjoyed OB/GYN (I'll apply this summer/fall); so it's good to keep an open mind and find what suits you best. It's good that you have some exposure to E.R. through family members, that way you have something to gauge your other interests with.

All decisions have been made. I've decided to go the osteopathic route. It's gonna be Des Moines University. Just signed a lease today and now I'm crazy excited for August!
