I contacted 4 dealerships got finite answers from 3 dealerships in my area. Deposits from those 3 range from $500 to 10% (so $2300 - $4100)

It is not required by GM. Find a delaer that will do it for $0 down. Mine did.

Mine was $1,000. Refundable and counts towards the purchase price, so in the end the actual amount didn't make a lot of difference.

Dealer originally wanted $5000 over MSRP.

I put $1000 deposit and was able to get MSRP.

I inquired about the GM supplier discount but local dealer wouldn't honor that for the Camaro.

I spoke to 3 dealerships in my area. All of them said $500 down to order was fine. I put $500 down yesterday on my 2SS, no hassles.

I gave a $250 deposit fully refundable and the check is just sitting in a folder in an office, its never been touched since I handed it to them.
