Lets talk about thehurst shifter ! GM drops the ball again . This is not the only car that the traney is in .GM did not want the hurst logo on the stick .I think that was a big mistake .

Preventative Statement : Lets all take a breath before we get hyper.
There's no evidence yet to prove it was GM's fault, or Tremec's fault. I'm sure the investigation team will find out what's wrong and let everyone know one way or the other. |

People who think they are in the KNOW say "hey its the same tranny as in the vette" I always tell them its NOT the same tranny" Finally someone agrees with me!! Thank you MuscleCarz!! =bobby

So the big questions I have are:
Is this for every manual SS or just certain VIN ranges? Will GM notify the dealership who will call me for the recall? How long does it take for a dealership to fix this problem? |

Well, from what we do know is that one of the two if not both are at fault.. What is the most likely scenario is that there is a manufacturing defect that has occurred as I'm sure the original design was tested and worked the way it was supposed to. If it is manufacturing defect, then Tremec obviously needs to correct the problem and send new ones or else GM has to find another company (a much more costly and time consuming path) that can perform the same job and create a similar transmission. Either way this is a nightmare for all of us early adopters who may have that doubt about punching it as we are driving if all of them are not replaced.. Let us hope it can be narrowed down to a few thousand vins and that's all... If not who knows how long it will take to correct this problem (depends how fast the corrected part can be made and sent to the dealers.. The god news is nobody was hurt from one of these malfunctions...
