E85 gas cap?

This is something out of left field, but it came up In a discussion the other day. The guys running E85 (or just flex) have you found a yellow gas cap (or painted yours) for places like NJ that won’t let you pump your own fuel?

Thank you. It doesn’t show as fitting, but I’m guessing that’s because the 5th gen was never offered as a flex vehicle?

I never looked into too much. I thought it would fit but you might be right about that. Don’t see why it wouldn’t.

I compared the specs on rockauto and they’re definitely different.

You can get a regular gas cap in yellow:
https://www.ebay.com/p/74887308
That has the threads.

The FLEX fuel caps are different, some of them:

So if you don’t have the yellow cap but I tell the attendant to put ethanol in it, they will refuse? Yeah I would suppose I would have mine painted.

What's the logic behind you not being able to pump your own fuel? I had no idea this was a thing....

New Jersey is full service gas stations only. No self service is allowed. Oregon was the same way prior to covid.

Correct. On my motorcycle I had more success but in the car I had times I was told to get back in if I tried to pump my own.

This came up in a discussion the other day as I’m thinking about going flex down the road and if we happen to go into NJ. Thanks everyone for the replies.

Maybe they were way ahead of everyone else for pipeline shutdown shortage where people where pumping gas into garbage bags, coolers, etc.

NJ is weird, they don't want to take those jobs away from people I guess. Have a friend who lives in NJ and him and I had this exact conversation like a month ago and it blew my mind that it was a thing. I don't trust family members putting fluids into my car yet alone a stranger pumping gas!

I was in NJ for work about 7-8 years ago and was shocked when I couldn't find a place to pump my own gas. Felt really odd.
