Just verified this deal still works, 10x Part Number 124798 and 2x Part Number S12060XL comes to $80 + tax, free shipping. As others have said in different threads, you can return the STP filters for Delco ones later in-store.

Keep watching here for Mobil1 Supercar. Price varies wildly but see it drop to $9-ish/qt with free shipping now and then. Click buy on those.

Quote of the decade.

Spend $50-80k on a high performance car not particularly suitable for daily driver commuter penny-pinching then try to save a couple bucks on oil changes twice a year

Thank you all for the replies. Was just curious. Liqui Moly price are comparable to Supercar too and there are many great oil brands with 0w-40 so I was just curious. I'm a new 1LE owner and new to V8's in general so just wanted to make sure haha. I'm going to stick with dexos2 supercar esp mobil1 till the warranty runs out, then explore around haha

My questions are always the same:

1) Why go with a brand that isn’t recommended by the manufacturer? ‘Because a shop recommended’ feels like a really bad answer.
2) Tell me about any (A) engine failure caused by an oil brand or (B) an engine that lasted 500K miles because of the brand of oil that was used?
3) If you’re not solving for question #2 A or B - I go back to question 1.

I’ve driven cars for a few million miles. 30 years, driving an average of 100K miles per year. I’ve used synthetics ever since they came out from Mobil, Pennzoil, Royal Purple, QuakerState, Amsoil, Castrol and none of which killed the motor, nor do I think they added 1,000’s of miles of life.

Change your oil and filter regularly, use a synthetic oil and you’ll like have a motor that’ll last for 175 to 200K miles without issue.
Yeah you're right bc they recommended is a bad answer. They gave me the idea, and i looked into it and seems like its standard or recommended to European/German high performance cars like M3's etc. I guess they're lucky enough to not be restricted to just dexos2 like we are so they get to shop around. Liqui Moly seems to be a highly respected brand just like Mobil1 and it seems the exact same, exact same viscosity so it's nothing bad for the engine. Only reason I thought to stick with dexos2 is warranty.

But I agree, regular oil intervals are critical for a healthy engine rather than these trivial oil brand debates lol

I change my oil a lot because of HPDE’s. If you run 3 events a year you’ll be changing your oil 6-7 times a year even if you only drive 10K miles. I do it myself mostly out of trust and some penny pinching to be honest. I also bleed my own brakes with Castrol SRF, change out my own pads, rotors. I also drain the diff after every 2 events, mostly as insurance, but there is quite a bit of material on the drain plug even with regular intervals.

My ZLE and Z06 only gets supercar oil, I have a VW Tiguan that I only use liqui Moly on. In the VW forums they complained that Mobil 1 oils make the VW engines noisy. I’ll continue to use what the manufacturer suggests. Not to get into this argument again but ESPx3 European formula is not Supercar oil. I also do all my own maintenance and really don’t mind spending a few extra bucks on what the manufacturer suggests. I even send mine out for analysis to see if it’s working.

It’s OK to be “oil curious” SpyderSoldier - no “kink shaming” on this forum!

As long as they're the same viscosity and they're both super good brands I don't think there should be any differences or adverse effects. I just thought its weird there's only one specific oil brand that's dexos2 approved. Any thoughts?
Watch this video, GM approved dexos oils have lower levels of calcium detergents which is better for Direct Injection engines.

Mobile 1 Supercar oil has less calcium detergents.

Buddy, you have, possibly the most badass track car on the planet.

1SS 1LE is low weight, high power and fan-****ing-tastic

do not deviate from the book. Change the oil with 0-40 Supercar, change the diff out of the gate, take care of that monster of a vehicle you own.

I cannot remember if it was this forum (camaro forum) or the Ducati forum I am on... But there was this one Dude who used to get his rocks off arguing with other Dudes that generic Walmart oil was fine so long as you changed it every 3000 miles.

That shit was amusing as hell. There were some guys that were trying to shout him down all of the time.

Sorry if this is off topic.

Yea, I just posted the video to just answer his question on the difference in oils.
Mobile 1 Supercar does have less calcium detergents, if I remember correctly it's like 1600s to 3200s per million of the European 0w-40.
