I'm opposite to CC - I own a Yukon and it's really handy to have it live all the time. Recharging my Blackberry right now as I am sitting at the computer....

Back on topic guys. Leave it be...
Umm...the topic IS always-on vs. on-with-the-car power jacks.

Posts with racist remarks have been deleted. There is no tollerance for comments like these. Keep it clean or go somewhere else. Not all posts that I deleted were racist; some quoted the racist remarks; others were borderline.

It can't be that difficult to re-wire the socket.

I'm wondering if they were getting complaints because people drained their battery. I had a '93 DeVille and it was always on. My 2000 LeSabre and '08 Enclave aren't

That has happened to a lot of people and with all sorts of brands but I learned that the first mod you make with any car is replace the battery with an Optima. Big bubbles, no troubles....

im sure it has run down protection anyway, so if the battery was low, it would cut it off...wrong?

It's not good to leave a cellphone plugged into a cars outlet all the time anyway. When you use the plug in (indoor) charger it doesn't continue to feed the battery electricity once it's fully charged.

On the other hand, the cars charger never stops and can eventually ruin the cellphone's battery.

I'd rather the outlets in the car shut off, no chance of draining the battery.

Jeep Liberty had it, loved it. There should be an option to turn it off and on.

My Envoy is always on and i love it.The fact that the lights on the radar detector are staring you in the face when it's on should be indication enough that it needs to be unplugged.

Actually I prefer it this way ever since my previous camaro caught fire during the night because the cigarette lighter got stuck. Ever since then, if i own a car that stays on the whole time, that is the first thing that goes in the trash.
