which Camaro to buy...

Hey there, new to this forum and soon hopefully going to be new to Camaro ownership! But first, I would like to do some research and decide on which year and stle of Camaro I want!I know the Gen5 started in 2010 and i'm not looking to buy a new 2014 or 2015. I know that I want an SS, but i'm not sure on what year or trim that I want yet. What would y'all say is the best year Gen5 Camaro to purchase? As far as features, performance, durability, is there a particular one that stands out or do they all have their give and takes?

Also, I am coming from only truck ownership in my past so i'm not exactly sure what it is called but, I really like the rear of the Camaros that have the tail pipe sort of built-in to them instead of kinda just hanging loose between the black plastic holes, is that a certain trim package? Aftermarket? Specific year? Also, if anyone could tell me that that is called, I'd really appreciate it so I won't sound like an idiot at the dealership

Thanks

If you don't want a '14 or '15, then a 2013 is what I'd go for.

You desire the ground effects package as well for the rear look you want.

Just subscribed to your post. I'm also in the market to buy a Gen5, just not sure where to start. IMO they all look fairly good right out of the box, but in my case is should I go for a boxed performance package IE. ZL1 or just get a base and do a DIY on the whole thing.

I don't like paying for something I'm going to change IE. Wheels, Suspension(coilovers) etc.

I've just posted the same topic about 5 minutes ago. I know I'll be doing lots of mods, but I just don't which Gen5 to start with.

My other problem is I do the used car market, so it's actually kind of hard to find just a 1SS with the color combo I like. Paint is something I would rather not redo.

2500 dollars is what in generally cost for the ground effects package. I bought my 45th anniversary and waited a year to just buy the ground effects package. If i were you i would by the 2013 models. It has my link and a couple of sweet upgrades.

Biggest concern I would have is to get a 2012 or later so you have the FE4 rear suspension.

If I were buying one today, I would get the 1LE.

I would look for the one that was the best deal - condition, price, warranty (if any), and mileage. Then, decide on what color(s) you like. Because you're looking on the used market, you are limited to what is available.

Amen to this!

They're all good performers, but I believe they get the minor bugs worked out the newer you go. I recommend a '13 and you can get some really good deals on them now (new or used).

Thanks everyone, so 2013 it is. But yes, no wing of that size will be on my Camaro ever. Just used that picture for the ground effects package! So is the ground effects package something that dealerships still offer? If so, and I found a nice deal on Camaro I wanted let's say around 25-28K, instead of negotiating on price could I negotiate with them to add ground effects or would I be better off haggling on the price and then just adding the package on later? I was wanting a white with Black accents and maybe black stripes but then I saw this color combo..which I could imagine is hard to find

That is just a standard black Camaro someone has added purple pace car stripes on.
