Sale Pricing Suggestion
Hello.
I have a 2010 Camaro 2/SS RS fully loaded automatic victory red with black striping and are considering selling it. It only has 17000 miles on it and is in like new condition and no flaws. I have put about $20k of modding into it and it has dynoed at 600 rwhp and 500 torque. I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good private sale price that would probably sell it fast but still give me a good return for it as I feel it's time to move it on. The Kelly Blue Book price for it just alone stock for a private sale is $29k. Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated. Thanks. |

Toss out any mods you have they are worthless to 99% of buyers. As for the vehicle seeing re-sale value on C5 and other places you are looking at $22k-$25k for a used 2010 the car is now in it's 5th model year. You have none of the more desirable features that were available for 2011-15 (HUD, power passenger seat, MyLink, ect....) I have seen 2014 1LE's on the board going for $32k.
GLWTS IMHO you need to pull ALL of the mods off return it back to stock sell the mods.

Whew! Good luck, man. $20K in mods on a 5 year old car (with no warranty) will be impossible to fully recoup. That's the biggest problem with modding. It all depends on what the mods are, of course, but if you can get back 20% of your investment you'll be lucky. Cosmetic mods are pretty much a complete loss and mechanical mods are tough because you have to find a buyer who wants those specific mods.
It's true that your best hope is to return your car to stock (mechanically) as much as possible. Sell the car. Then sell the mods separately (this forum's Member's Classifieds is the best place to sell mods).

Kelly Blue Book is dreaming, I didn't pay much more than that 29K for a new '13 2SS/RS and there are still some new ones on lots that you can get in the low 30's
Good luck but as others have said, pull the mods and sell seperately |

I just (3 months ago?) paid less than that for a 2011 2SS/RS convertible, Victory Red with black stripes, with only 4000 miles on it and sold "as new" by the dealer, since it had never been sold before (i.e., I walked out with the full 5 year / 3 year warranty that started at my purchase). As said, the mods won't drive up the price much, if any, and may detract a buyer (I'd be cautious as I would wonder how hard the car had been driven if performance mods were added). Private party sale is definitely your way to go, and then to someone seeking to save their own time/money on similar mod investment.

I think kbb partly calculates resale value based on geographic area, so perhaps in your area Camaros sell well and that's why the higher resale.
IMO what has been posted is true. Ditch the mods and get whatever you can for them. I'd probably not sell it considering these factors, unless you're in a pinch and have pressing financial reason(s). |
