I don't understand how people are swapping a aftermarket air intake for another and picking up 10Hp.

Ok first off got everything installed but was a almost 90 minute ordeal with many failures on my part and two on vararams directions. Over all I will post tomorrow more after my test drive.

Well a simple search will reveal that not all CAI are created equal.

Ok first drive with a CAI on the 2015 SS and ohhhhhh man, The car never sounded better. I had a K&n on my 2012 v6 Camaro and I thought it sounds really good but boy was I wrong. This thing wakes up the engine and you can really hear it after about 3k rpm. The car sounds like it has a v8 up front now but when you are off the gas it still sounds tame which the wife will like. I will have to do some 0-60's and I will post the guide for install in a bit. Smiles ear to ear after the first stop sign and giving the fun pedal a push.

This is a new design that was just released a few months ago..The intake tube was much larger than my roto-fab, and they used fire resistant material around the maf to help woth heat soak, also uses a washer bottle as a wall to help block heat from the engine along with removing block off plates from radiator. It also doesnt use the traditional cone filter as they had one made. I was a little sceptical at first but it works.

Advice for install.

1. wear gloves. its super dirty in that area of the car.

2. You will be taking off the front driver side wheel and panel to reach the washer bottle, really no way around it. It will make your life easier.

3. Removing the front bolts of the radiator for removing the wind deflectors is pointless. I still haven't gotten that damn thing out yet. I might try another method. I will let you know. (1LEs shouldn't have to worry about that part.)

4. bring a clean bucket to dump the washer fluid out of the old washer reservoir or buy a new gallon of fluid like I did.

5. Silver screws are for MAF, Black screws are for washer pump motor.

6. Change the MAF over after you remove the old airbox and construct the new CAI before you install it.

7. The rubber flange tube with the nozzle make sure it points at about 4 o clock off the throttle body while facing the engine. It will make sense after you do the install of the new system

8. make sure to use the old gasket for the washer motor pump so the fluid stays in the new bottle.

9. set aside at least an hour or more. It says 20-30... I might be able to do it that quick now but i'm thinking that's time on a lift.

10. Enjoy the sound once its done. its sound is dangerously fun.

Now although that is true, seeing that people have scoops and and aftermarket intake swapping to this intake which should really only benefit from the air it's bringing in while driving on the road (this is the whole purpose of the scoop as well) to swap a intake with a scoop to this new vararam and pick up 10ponies is a really big wow factor. I'm not going to knock it because I haven't tried it but it's just really hard to believe. Glad everyone likes it

Well Im not a CAI fanboy but Vararam really seems to have gone further with their design; the ram air/air box design with the zero drag tube looks really efficient. When Vararam said they worked with COPO design and did a lot of R&D, it sounded good to me.

Thanks for the write-up and list of tips for installation. I will be installing one very soon and will report if I find anything different to add.
