ReFinished Door and Dash Trim I Did Myself
After hours and hours and more hours of what seemed like never ending work, I finally was able to finish my door and dash trim
Ended up turning out really good. I wanted to go for a "factory" looking job instead of just painting and clearing the outside and I didn't want to vinyl it just because at first I thought it was gonna be cheaper and not this difficult. I stripped all of the old paint off and repainted the backside. The stipping of the old paint was the job from hell. But they are done now and Im so happy and I appreciate them even now that I got them done myself. thought I would share, what do you guys think? ps, I could not find the right light to get a good picture, ill keep trying and post another if I can figure it out. |

yes I can. its not as bright as it was before just because when I was stripping the paint off, it cloudied up the plastic and I could not for the life of me clear it up, but it is still there. (its not like awful, it lights up nice, just not as vibrant)
When I repainted, I just taped off the top part where the light shines through, worked out good |

well because I have never done this kind of thing before and could not find a single person that has done it this way, I tried everything to strip it off.
These trim pieces are some kind of plastic from hell too so... CONCLUSION: the only thing that I found worked that did not cloudy, crack, or screw up the plastic someway; that still took off the old paint, was a lot of wet sanding mixed with four quarts of elbow grease. (if there is something out there that simplifies it and takes it off easy without f'n the plastic up, I haven't found it.) |
