Would you get rid of your SS for a Z/28?
Topic.
I'd say maybe, depending on my financial situation and just how beefy the Z/28 was.

No, considering I already have the SS. If I was in the market for a new one and the Z28 was out and priced right I would consider it. I look at it this way, the car is paid for and I plan on keeping it for a long long time. Down the road if I wand more power I can add my own blower.

It would be cheaper to just add a maggie to your SS than get a Z/28 with the same output assuming the Z/28's will be around $45k.

You guys raise good points.
Personally, I would consider it if the Z/28 was so upscaled it would be illogical to pour money in the SS instead. Besides performance, we can speculate a possible Z/28 would have a much more aggressive body style, electronics GPS package, perhaps a Bose system, etc.

Would have to look at the cost and see if I could get #230 to the same performance for less money.

Someone said "upscale" GPS, bose... blah blah. This goes against everything a Z/28 stands for. The SS should have that stuff, not the Z/28. The Z/28 should be a 1SS non RS with more power (LS7/9), better (stiffer) suspension, slotted rotors, standard short throw shifter, bumblebee hood, lightweight wheels... No bose, no GPS, no leather heated seats, no HUD... all crap. Yes, its nice crap and I love my 2SS/RS but if I was making the Z/28, thats how I'd make it.
I would not get rid of my 2SS/RS for a Z/28 as I described. I'd get one TOO, but not in place of. |

It would depend on what the Z28 option entailed. Great points brought out here, if it was just predominately a supercharger with heavier coils and bigger sway bars ,no it would be alot cheaper to just upgrade my SS with these component, or their aftermarket counterparts, which may actually be better. Besides I already have one.

Nope, not gonna do it....
My SS/RS is the first new Muscle car I've ever ordered/owned, and I'm kind of attached to it... Not as much say as Sssoochh, but attached all the same... I owned a 71 Hemi cuda, had no problem selling it, though I wish I still owned it today... I would rather make the horsepower in my SS than buy a Z-28.... I like the sleeper effect.... though if the price and stuff were right, I might own both... as mentioned prior---, LS-7, no heated seats and Bose and GPS and all the other things that make my SS so Classy.... Raw Power, oh yeah....
