Bad Wreck and a 5th gen convertible..
As reported on Yahoo just now.. I believe that is a LS convertible? No word if the Camaro driver was the wrong way driver or not, but a bad deal all the way around :(
Officials investigate the scene of a multiple vehicle accident where 6 people were killed on the westbound Pomona Freeway in Diamond Bar, Calif. on Sunday morning, Feb. 9, 2013. Authorities say a wrong-way driver caused the pre-dawn crash that left six people dead. (AP Photo/San Gabriel Valley Tribune,Watchara Phomicinda) MAGS OUT, NO SALES MANDATORY CREDIT

Six people died and a Fontana woman is accused of drunken driving and vehicular manslaughter following a wrong-way, head-on collision on the 60 Freeway in Diamond Bar. Five women and a man died in the three-vehicle crash, which took place about 5 a.m. on the westbound lanes of the 60 Freeway, just west of Phillips Ranch Road, California Highway Patrol Officer Rodrigo Jimenez said. Coroner’s officials withheld their identities pending positive identification and notification of family members. Olivia Carolee Culbreath, 21, of Fontana, who was driving a Chevrolet Camaro that allegedly sped the wrong way down the freeway prior to the crash, was hospitalized with serious injuries at Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center and expected to face charges, the officer said. “There was evidence of alcohol consumption,” Jimenez said. He declined to describe the evidence, citing the ongoing investigation. “We’re treating this as a crime scene.” One witness at the scene described seeing a 24-oz. beer can in the front seat area of the Camaro, as well as a tassel similar to those worn during school graduations. Minutes before the crash, officials began receiving reports that a car was heading east in the westbound lanes of traffic, according to CHP logs. Witnesses reported the car was travelling at high speed, with estimates ranging from 70 mph to more than 100 mph.

A very tragic story whenever anyone dies at the hands of a drunk driver.
If you look closely you will see that it was a coupe. It looks like the top was ripped off by the force of the collision or possibly by emergency personnel trying to extract the driver. I don't believe there was ever an option for a convertible LS (only LT, SS, and ZL1). |
