I just picked up a new black 2015 ZL1. What would you guys recommend from a first wash/polish/prep perspective? Should the car be clayed and then detailed?

I used to use the turtle wax ice products as I had very little time to do a six hour detailing job. Plan for this car is two professional details a year (Spring and fall) and then me maintaining it the rest of the time.

Cheers,
Chris

I wouldn't polish. I would just hand wax. Once you touch a black car with a machine you put fine scratches in it that are difficult to get out. I have owned 5 black cars. If it's new wash it very Carrefully using two bucket method and gently DRAP a towel over to dry with zero pressure. You shouldn't have to polish for a year or so.

Been using Malm's since early 80's

http://www.malms.com/products.html

Best Carnauba wax made hands down.

Then for speedy spray and shine I like this

http://www.rt66wax.com/product.php?p=131

Nothing shines better or faster.

Mike

I've always used Zaino and it's been my favorite for detailing exterior and interior

I had my car detailed a few months ago and they used Wolfgang Fuzion Wax. The car looking AMAZING. Never seen the color pop the way it did. I tried it based on a friends recommendation since his paint on his black charger always popped and looked amazing.

Here is a walk around I did the same day. You can see how deep it looks and the mirror finish. I had people make offers to buy my car that week. LOL
