Okay now go ahead and ban me for all I really care but I was trained by our Military and although the thought of lots of bullets in your rifle is awsome, I was taught one bullet was all it took so why the need for 30 or 50 round magazines let alone a 200 round drum, we going to war because honestly thats the only time I needed mine. Just saying and voicing my opinion. Do I own a rifle? Several and one is a semi automatic that Canada is now trying to ban or put on the restricted weapons list and I am fine with it as I have my proper permits and am happy to say that it does only take one round to shoot what I aim at. Just a humble Vetern's opinion.
Cheers,
Jim

Unfortunately I do not have the monies to invest thousands upon thousands of dollars in a rifle, aside from your typical hunting rifle, although I'd like to have a customized semi-automatic rifle at some point. Govt going to ban them before I could ever afford one - and I know there is a resounding F*CK THE GOVERNMENT on this topic. How dare they challenge the 2nd amendment like this...

At any rate, my future purchase:

You're entitled to an opinion, and it's a reasonable one.

It's possible there could always be civil unrest, not unrelated to a war, yes. That's the purpose of our 2nd amendment.

Should too much horsepower be outlawed? You only need 30..... not 300.

I have a solution also. If a lot of our veterans are coming home and have a hard time finding jobs, then allow them to be additional security for our schools. Let them wear their uniforms, vests and a hand gun. Nothing to drastic but well trained soldiers that can be there at a moments notice when needed.

everyone gets to have their own opinion, and yours is a lot better than most.

but in the event of martial law or collapse of society (seen most recently in the looting after Sandy or Katrina here in the U.S.) think about how outnumbered you may be against the people that want what you have. prepared gun owners are in the minority and if/when $hit hits the fan i am ready to protect myself and my family from those who would wish to do harm.

even if it only takes only one bullet per person, think about how many people are just in your city that may be a threat.

and while you have the permits most others may not (i am not completely familiar with your gun control laws however i know they are strict), is it fair to deny others the opportunity to protect themselves.

Can anyone here who's purchased a firearm through gunsamerica.com give me a little insight into how this process works?

I just clicked "buy" on the firearm I would like, but there's really not much easily accessible information on this site about what I should do next.

My coworker told me I should contact the FFL I plan on having handle the paperwork to inform them I will have a firearm coming to them, but I'm not entirely sure beyond that what's going to happen.

Thanks

It's not about "need" though. Just like our cars, it's about want. And for some people, it's about what "might" be needed as some people have mentioned. For me, I would go shoot and it was just nice not having to reload after every 10 trigger squeezes.
