Congrats!! I will keep my V6 with mods. V8 will get me in trouble. but I know what you mean about the power. My Beast at home is a 98 Z28 with 400 hp and 3450 lbs wght with a road race suspension. V6 is safe for road,Beast for when Mr Hyde comes out!!!

I can get into enough trouble with my V6 m6! Getting about 23 with city/highway mix so that makes me happy, a V8 would kill me on gas with the mileage I have back and forth to work.
Rented a Shelby GTH from Hertz a few years ago (yeah I know) but jeez it would put you in the back seat! 12K miles on it when I rented it and the back tires were almost bald! I never even thought that I would have another Camaro and I am so pleased with mine I could never part with it..... |

It's the Auto (so I put the "L99" in my signature). I originally had my heart set on the manual (to get the LS3 engine, but once I drove it I decided against it. I found the shifter to be "less than fluid". Sure it had tons of power, but I was too busy shifting to really enjoy what it had to offer. I did ask the dealer to let me know when he gets a manual with the Hurst shifter in. I won't trade again, but I would like to see if the Hurst is a little easier to run through the gears.

I was completely floored how much of a difference 88 ponies made! The V6 is a screamer, no doubt. But the 400hp of the L99 is (to quote another member) a Rocketship!
While test driving I was on a 4 lane hwy. I locked the cruise in @ 52mph to try to detect the AFM kicking in/out (which I didn't). I then noticed a Jeep Cherokee in the other lane coming up from behind probably doing about 60. I then decided to test the response & see if there would be a lag coming out of AFM. Once the faster moving Jeep had passed me, I kicked it. The front of the Camaro literally jumped & the car launched itself out in front! I was sold! (PERMAGRIN!!!)

Once I became an owner, got involved with this forum & educated myself, then went back to test drive the SS models I began to want the V8. But honestly the thing that pushed me over the edge to trade was the HUD. What can I say, I'm a gadget guy. Even my wife loved it. Since I couldn't get the HUD on a 1SS, I got the 2SS. Absolutely no regrets!

I have no doubt most people I know will never realize I have traded cars. (same car, same color) unless I tell them, but then it's for MY enjoyment so I don't care. Thanks for all the comments guys!!

How bad did you get burned on the trade up? I have considered the same thing, but I'm figuring 10K to get from what I got (23Kish?) to a similarly optioned SS (33Kish). I've also been wondering about the rumored interior refresh for 2012.
