Talking Finally went to a road track

I have always been pleased with my Camaro but today was magnificent. I took it to Motorsports Ranch in Cresson, TX and ran it on a small road course that was more focused on skill vs. speed. Considering I had the lowest HP and heaviest vehicle, I held my own very well and the car performed excellently. The course was a great test of the combination of handling and power and it passed with flying colors.

Kudos to the guys with the Vettes, the Viper and the Supercharged Mustang GT. It was a great day. I just wish they took pictures or video for you so I'd have something to share!

Now it's time to finally start whittling down the list of upgrades since I have some practical (and legal) race experience with the car.

That would be a kick in the pants. There's a road course not too far from here, meybe in the spring once I get my Camaro out of mothballs.

Nice to see someone utilizing and enjoying the cars capabilities successfully for more than straight line speeds.

I haven't done it yet but maybe at C5FEST in April. I have alot of good twisty mountain roads here that we take and while not the same in the professional sense as the course is great fun and great way to push the car and find the weaknesses.
This Thursday Hotchkis sways going on to get rid of roll and understeer these cars have in turns. Maybe springs to.

Black.. curious as to your thoughts. While reaching the synopsis and fix for these issues, do you believe they are equally realitive to the suspension, performance and handling characteristics of both the V6 & V8 versions of the Gen5?

Looks like a blast. When did they build that place. I've been through Cresson many times but, never have seen that. Of course, I have been away for 8 years.

Check out Jeff Bucknum's website, www.jeffbucknum.com. Jeff drives the no. 6 Sunoco Camaro in the Grand Am Sports Car Challenge series. He's doing instructional videos on his website. Looks like a great source of info for those of us who like to go fast around the corners, too.

I like the road courses and the drag strip - that's the thing I love about these cars - After this week, all my Pfadt goodies will be installed and we will be Good-To-Go... I have taken the car to Texas Motor Speedway several times. Once for an event called the ROVAL, put on by the The Texas Driving Experience - They combine the one mile in field course with the NASCAR oval for a 2 1/2 mile barrel of fun!!! I held my own with a ZR1 (130mph around turn one). It was a BLAST to say the least. I think if more people tried it they would like it just as much, if not better than the strip...

Glad to hear more of us are taking our Camaro's out on the Road Coarses. My first event was taking my car down the 1/4 mile strip....it was fun. Then 2 weeks later that same 1/4 mile strip was my front strait-away on a roadcourse.Instead of slowing down after the finish line at 108 to slowly make a left turn, I stayed hard into the gas until a reach 145, hammered the brakes and dove into that same left turn......Freakin Rush!!!!

Warning!!! It is Highly Addictive

I think the best thing about road courses is the rush isn't over in just 10.73 seconds. Track sessions can last a good while allowing for more practice in driving your line and working the apex. But then again that 10.73 @ 129mph ain't to shaby either... You gotta love em both...
