Ran across this article which was an awesome read:

Interesting! 60mpg in a Hummer....
Anybody remember the Eco-rocket, or "green monster"?: The 60's/70 Impala retro-fitted with a biodiesel engine and tranny? This seems to be along the same lines.... My opinion is that the future of mpg is infinity, 'cause there won't be too many more..."gallons". I'm hoping to see a "Camaro-affordable" Tesla-roadster. It's coming... but untill then, biodiesel, and E85 performance engines seem the way to go for me |

I thought the charge takes approx 3 hours, that's what they say on their site, at least.
And they build them here?!?!? I thought Lotus was building them for Tesla over in the UK? Either way, cool that they are so close to you, Mindz! I've fallen in love with those cars.... |

They are being built in San Carlos, CA. I saw one on Ralston Ave (random street that is my way to get to the freeway, and I thought it was a cross between lambourghini and lotus, then I saw a Tesla emblem. I researched them and then found out from google.
Their contact info: http://www.teslamotors.com/customer_care/contact_us.php EDIT: Quoted from their site "A full Charge....can be acheived in as little as 3.5 hours" (That doesn't mean from a dead battery. |

Whoever says that you can't get power and efficiency is flat out lying. Modern engines are producing more power out of a smaller engine and getting better milage. In reality, there is no difference between power and efficiency. The more efficient you make something, the less you need to do the same thing. So in a car with a more efficient design can more milage for the same power OR more power with the same milage, or a bit of both
Now this mans claims seem incredible, personally I don't believe them. I do know that turbine engines are more powerful than the internal combustion engine. By how much, I have no idea. I'll talk to one of my prof's, he is a researcher for GM, though not powertrains
