I see where your coming from but below is the reasons. 1. SLP is stainless and will last 5 times longer than aluminum that your local shop would use. 2. Your getting the shole system from SLP, so if doesnt work out etc you can replace it with the stock system with some sleeves. If you go to shop they are going to chop out muffler and have to weld your tips back on etc. 3. I think I trust SLP to modify and come up with something more than some meneike muffler shop. 4. SLP is about half the price of other offering the same product ie sweet thunder, corsa etc.

I'll give you two reasons...nobody in my area deals with stainless (would have had to go with aluminized...no thanks) and then add the mandrel bent pipes. I can do it myself in my own garage and someone else isn't hacking away at my car. $404 shipped. Last edited by CAM75; 07-25-2009 at 04:36 PM. |

Exactly...I don't know if it is different between the LS3 vs. L99 but on my A6 it is definitely not loud or raspy. It has a great tone (SLP Loudmouth). If I would had wanted any quieter I might as well just left it stock in my opinion.

i went with the Magnaflow Comp Series exhaust, its practically identical to SLP Loudmouths b/c its a muffler delete axle back system.
i like Magnaflow's tips better, and they're available now; SLP is on backorder until early September!!! check out my thread with pics of the system: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34071

Muffler delete won't get loud untill you get rid of the cats and resonators.
But trust me, add some long tube headers and high flow cats, the muffler delete setup with get pretty darn loud. |

Here is a link to some dyno videos of my muffler delete before and after. It’s louder than stock, but FAR from too loud. The tone is almost perfect. My 2000 Z-28 with the Flowmaster American thunder system was louder than this setup.

Hello!
|
Pros...pick up a few horses, sounds great (IMO), lose a little weight, those gas tanks for mufflers are no longer visable, you can see the IRS, and did I mention it sounds great!
Cons...hmmm, well, uhhhh, I think....well...nope, can't think of any! Plus I got stainless pipes, all mandrel bent and all that was installed for $125! Get your aftermarket system, pay the $400 - $600 price tag and also the installation cost (yeah, don't forget about that cost because most of you aren't going to install this yourself...so add another $100 on there!!) or spend $100 or so and get the same sound (or close to it)! Just can't fault this mod...it's too easy and too cheap. Now, if you are going longtubes and stuff...it's going to be loud, really loud! As is, with stock manifolds and pipes, just replace it from axle back, it's a very nice sounding system! |
