502 engine in a 4th gen?

A friend has a 502 engine and was offered a 93 camaro for cheep, a few hundred bucks. It is a V6 model but the engine is messed up, the owner drove with a blown head gasket, he was wondering if it was possible and how much would he have to do to put the 502 in to the 93.

Carb the 502 and do a simple MSD ignition and he can do it w/out to much difficulty. He will need to upgrade the suspension front & rear and the V6 diff is fragile so it wont last.

I'd say quite a bit of work, better k-member, suspension, bigger springs. Get rid of the old rear end entirely as I'm willing to bet that 93 has drum rear brakes. The 10 bolt won't live long anyway with any torque.

Honestly, a SBC k-member could be had from BMR fabrication for just 500 bucks. And a 12 bolt rear wouldn't be too difficult to swap in. Add a custom drive shaft and a complete suspension and you're ready to rock. Not necessarily cheap, but not a difficult project.

Well depending on the person and their mechanical know-how, it could be a weekend thing, or it could be one of those "never ending" projects.

It wouldn't be too bad we have the stuff to allow the big block to be bolted in without issue and everything is readily available to make it run and there is lots of information out there since this swap has been done many times.

I have used the BMR K-members, A-arms and good coil overs with great results.....makes it much easier.

Not that I hate generic questions like these, but I hate generic questions like these. Research is your best friend...and ls1tech/ls1.com will help you out immensely over anything you're going to learn here.

Your also going to need a new trans and driveshaft to go along with what the others said.

Thanks for ls1 site.

Sorry if my questing was too generic. But this is all new to me. Other then changing the oil, spark plugs, and other minor stuff I don't have a clue. So why not start off on a car forum that is dedicated to the body of the car that is going to be used and get some input from someone who already done a swap equal or greater? I would say based off the few responses I have gotten this has been some help.
