Painted Stripes

I recently got my camaro and the stripes had bubbles. I now have the opportunnity to have the stripes painted on(no charge). What would you do? Have them restriped or painted on. Oh the car is black with orange stripes.

If they are going to do it right and the stripes wont have an edge, I say paint them on. But if they are just wanting to mask, scuff and spray the stripes on without spraying each panel with a new coat of clear, then dont do it. If you get the vinyl stripes, you can take them off if you get tired of them after seeing a bunch of cars just like yours.

Get them painted on. I went back and forth as well, my main concern right now was the cost but I found a excellent painter that is giving me a great deal. I was being charged $450 for custom vinyl stripes. Then I found this guy who is painting and clearing for $900
This way you don't have to worry about the vinyls chipping, peeling and bubbling. Just make sure they clearcoat it and not just spray it with paint and call it good.

Plus you can get the actuall Orange metallic paint mixed up and use that kinda like I am doing by putting Red Jewel Tintcoat on my SIM. You can view the progress here:

Well, have to admit I did go Ralley Yellow with Black Vinyl because my family is hooked on Bumblebee, can't fib. I think the paint color and gloss black painted stipes, and low profile reviews are the touch that just makes that car stand out. Plus the big screen gives a lighting perspective that adds intensity that is not there on the actual car. The internet stuff I've seen of the car is not as impressive as the big screen. But, I will paint and clear coat the stripes as soon as I have the bucks.

my stripe caught a wrinkle in it somehow (it wasn't there upon delivery).

i asked my cousin, who's about the best bodyman/restoration guy around, $250 to paint em' on. i just wanted the 'Maro as stock as possible. but i will probably have them painted on someday.

Painted stripes will make waxing your car much easier. It's a lot of work trying to remove the wax build up on the sides of the stripes.

Here's the deal, my dealership offered the same for me, I am ordering a 2LT/AUTO/RS with Gray Interior. But, what does that really mean, cus he said painted 'pin' stripes. My questions are :

Are the stripes the same as the actualy chevy stripes?
Are they realiable?
How much does something like that usualy cost?
Honestly, I would rather him not do it and give me something in exchange for cost of those stripes like a fuel door or paint my bow tie's or something that may mod the car to be a little more unique

painted pin stripes are diff than painting the rally stripes. Pin stripes are used to accent the lines of any given car...around the door handles down a body line, etc. Any "good" body shop should be able to "layout" the ralley stripes and paint them. If hey do it correctly, it will be under the clear and have the same gloss as the rest of your paint job!!

I'm having mine painted on with a pearl white to go with the IOM. 450 and dealer installed seemed a little extravagent to me for just vinyl.

That is if it ever gets here.
