I have never had a warranty issue with one of my cars. any concern I have ever had, was always handled. but not this. In the last 3 years I have spent 75k with GM on new car's. this is not the way you handle problems. "drive it and see if it goes away" is just stupid

I would try a different dealer. Seems stupid that they won't properly address a published, known issue, but so be it. If you really want to try the same dealer again, speak to the service manager directly, tell him about your purchase history, and advise him that if they don't fix it properly, you'll be forced to find a dealer who will. And your business will be with the new dealer from now on.

It puts things into perspective, fast.

I don't understand the thought process here. You've got the problem. You know you've got the problem. The dealer knows you've got the problem. GM knows you've got the problem. Heck, they've even documented the problem and the fix for the problem. But now they think that the proper way to handle the problem, is to deny the problem. If it was mine and they told me it was piston slap, I'd tell them that while they've got your engine apart for new lifters go ahead put a new set of pistons in it too.

I think I'd go some graphics place and have me some large, yellow, stick-on lemons made up. Park the car on the street in front of the dealership, stick the lemons all over it and write on the windows, with white shoe polish that "this car is a lemon and the dealership and GM refuses to repair it". Then call a local TV station and see if they'll do a story on it.
Most of them eat this kind of stuff up.
I'll bet that if you do this, the dealership wont be able to fix your car fast enough. They'll probably put the entire service department to work on just your car!

I've taken mine into two seperate dealers for the lifter tick issue and the horrible squeaking brakes. Both issues have a TSB and neither dealer would do a damn thing about it.

So do they(L99's) all wind up like this or is it just random?

It's usually just 2010s and NOT ALL have this issue. Like othershave previously stated, there is a revised AFM lifter.

I have a 2013 L99 and it seems to run as quiet as any GM I have ever owned. Is there a documented date out there on when they revised these DOD lifters?

I have an early 2010 L99. Never had a lifter noise in 30,000 miles.
I change the oil every 5,000 miles or twice a year so I think this might help.
