You wont need a tune unless you throw a code. Everyone says don't waste money on shorty headers and high flow cats, but since I live in CA and we have to smog, I went with JBA shorty headers and JBA high flow cats and it made a huge difference and the car sounds amazing, but to each his own.

High flow cats are very much worth it (20hp or so). Shorties not so much (5-10). ARH made slightly better numbers with theirs due to pipe length but you sure pay for it.

So I would notice a difference in sound and maybe a little hp. If I was to add just the hfc to the stock manifold?

And I wouldn't need to turn the car thus voiding my warranty?

It's 60/40 people that add them and don't get a CEL. Some add extenders and that fixes it. SOLO includes them with theirs and ppl have had good luck with them. Other brands you'll need to search on here. I can't remember which, maybe JBA, that had worse luck.

But you will definitely notice the hp and get some sound. No tune required.

I had them on the stock manifolds a couple weeks before I added headers, definitely felt a difference and watch out because it makes the car way way louder, like smiley face loud

What would be a reason for it to throw a code?

It throws a cat efficiency code based upon the changes the rear O2 sensor sees. The extenders take it out of the direct stream and so it "sees" the lower values it expects to see.
