I'm guessing no one has been called yet.

I'm thinking an 'angry drive' might be required this weekend. Find some nice back roads close to my friend (who drives a tow truck).

This is on a whole new level of concern if customer warrenties are being denied for a manufacturers defect. With my VIN right in the middle of the range observed on this site...the only indication we have to go by...... I'm pretty sure I'm driving around on a transmission grenade right now.

I'm a loyal GM enthusiast...I've got a Silverado, a GTO, and have owned 3 Camaros. I've kept the faith.

When this POS made in Mexico trans shaft shears itself in two...lets just say they better not hit me with "the car was abused".

I emailed gmcorpinfo@gm.com and cac@chevrolet.com and asked about my car (15370) and the range affected thing.

Their first response was a lot of talk about recalls and how they work. When I corrected them and the fact I knew there wasn't a recall, but that affected owners in a "range" of VINs were going to be contacted. They came back and tried to paint it like my car wasn't a problem. I think they said there was no documentation on my VIN as to having an issue. I think its more they don't have or want to admit to having a true list of affected VINs.

Haven't had a problem so far but I don't get on it much on the street. I figure the second I hit the strip again I'll break something. maybe I need to find some back roads and test more.

They probably have no clue and have no way of knowing. You're picking on the wrong folks. The Camaro team killed the issue and isn't taking it any further.

Mine had over 4k miles on it when it broke and it wasn't the first time it was driven "hard".

My VIN is in the 26k range. Made in the week GM acknowledge the issue and many cars in my batch were held in QC but mine didn't get snagged. I wonder if/when mine will take a dump.
