Safety through the roof. The car is heavy because of safety. The car has no T-tops because of safety. Heck I think the Gas cap location thing was because of safety but i'm not sure about it. What else am I missing guys?

We didn't put up with these things for just the heck of it...

There must be some other reasons it weighs so much, too, because the Mustang is 5 stars across the board for the convertible version, and 5 stars for all categories except side rear passenger (4-star) on the coupe. I think it's a bit lighter than the Camaro.

I couldn't actually find the Camaro rated on NHTSA's website... I don't doubt it, but where did you find that?

The camaro was designed with upcoming saftey standards in mind, the mustang meets current standards.

came from fbodfather... i forget where (it's been a while)

the mustang also has a solid rear axle, smaller brake components, a smaller weaker transmission, among other things

How about the Ford V8 that is the same as the Camaro V6?

Once the Mustang has all the new safety features it should be less then 100 pound difference between the 2 cars.

Mustang has a 3 axis stablity system vs 2 axis (RSC vs Stabili). Still Stablitrak is very nice system.

Just to be fair and honest here in answer to the question about crash test ratings....The Camaro has NOT been given crash test data from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

It MEETS all all saftey standards mandated by the Federal and state governments.

GM does it own safety crash tests and expects the Camaro to receive the highest ratings from these two agencies.

Its weight may be a consideration in some regard in certain types of crashes.

But again, there are NO crash test ratings released yet by either of the above agencies.

The features that are mandated by 2012. All cars are to have stability control, side curtain air bags, reinforced side beams and reinforced roof structure. The ones the Mustang are missing are the reinforcments, and the side curtains.

The Challenger is a Defensive lineman and the Camaro is a fullback.

But we are all football players (I mean pigs)
