everyone but a couple of shops will advise deleting dod/vvt and afm. Even if you change they afm lifters out and use vvt cam most shops will still say scrap it its no good. LS3 conversion is your best bet to get good lifters and all new valvtrain components minus rockers

ADM performance removed mine when I had my conversion done. I am honestly glad mine are gone that Dam Lifter tick isnt there anymore like it was before when those AFM lifters were there.

Take those POS AFM lifters out for sure. It will be up to you if you want to keep VVT for more power than the traditional cam but either way remove the AFM all together and make it VVT only or leave some power on the table and just convert to tradition LS3.

If you leave the stock lifters in then you will want to go with a TSP or Mast VVT cam which will be on the mild side and lifter friendly. Keep VVT and replace the lifters and you can go much more aggressive. Check out the Torque Convertor threads while you are at it. Best bang for the buck... but you'll need some sticky tires... |

So you wouldnt trust adm, lgmotorsports, livernois, or jannetty racing. I didnt say they wouldnt do it but they all have preference for no vvt. I have talked with all of them personally and that is what they told me about a cam.

If I'm not mistaken adm, lgmotorsports, and ivernois all make their own camshafts so of course they are going to say their cam is better and tell you take VVT out. I've seen at least two different engine dyno comparisons of VVT vs non-VVT cams and VVT cams made more power across the board. The reason these shops you spoke to recommend to take out VVT is because they have not invested R&D into developing a VVT cam and they want to sell you their stuff. It is not because non-VVT is better...that much I can guarantee.

and that is what I said in my first post I never said vvt was good better or the best I said most of those shops will tell you otherwise. I agree they have their own things they do which I also stated in another thread. Actually for power the vvt cam is better price and you can opt for afm delete lifters and have the best of both worlds. So that being said I was just stating what most of the bigger shops on the site would prob say so that way they wouldnt make op feel like its not a good thing.

Pretty sure I'd have to hear this directly from the shops you listed as they are all top notch. Bottom line is the choice is yours and you got my opinion...
BTW we have one or two big shops here in Houston that I have discussed this with. One of which says they always recommend keeping VVT. |

whos the shop? I would like to call them as well. I like the idea of vvt. You can look their numbers up and call them and they will tell you like they did me they can do whatever you want but prefer DOD/vvt delete. Trust me I have spoken with all of them several times on the phone. If they would have been ok and in favor of vvt then I would have jumped on it as it is cheaper for the same power. I would liek to call the shop you spoke with and get a qoute.
