We are going to take a ride to see Niagara Falls today. They say it's frozen but the water is still flowing but the mist freezes and covers everything in ice. Supposed to be beautiful to look at so we decided to check it out for ourselves. It's going to get into the mid 20's today with a couple of inches of snow. After the negative and single digit temps we have been experiencing mid 20's will seem like a heat wave so this is a good day to get out.

Take lots of pics. Yeah, it is a balmy 36 here today. Might break out the bikini! Raining HARD. Ponds are forming on top of the ice in the yard.

Saturday: Almost white out conditions because of wind, only expect 6-inches of new white today. Just completed marking my student submissions and Sunday will spend 10 hours watching classic period movies. Think I will watch Thelma & Louise. Friday no snow so visited my 1966 Bird conv. at the restoration garage. Looks amazing and looking foreword to driving in the Spring.

Yesterday high temp in Ottawa way below zero, wind chill was so cold my eyes teared up and tears froze on my face.

Cuz in SC sent me a few paragraphs on a book being developed with too much stuff on our old and respected Southern family. Back in the 1920s, appears a car load of my relatives were murdered, (dad, mother, multiple children) riding in one auto that was forced off the road an plunged off a narrow country bridge into an icy river...all relatives died. Did I mention for the last 80 years people who drove their cars into ditches on either side of the river late at night reported they swerved because they saw small children standing on the road!

Always thought my family history typical. A occasional murder, a few ghost stories, nothing special in an old Southern family with a Depression Era whisky history and a few plantations in the 1800s. Have been told my relatives always treated slaves with respect! (BS).

I am thrilled this book is developing and exposes many southern families including mine. Yes, I had a relative that signed the SC declaration to leave the Union. Can not wait to read the chapter when my aunt married a German spy in the 1940s and the government deleted their marriage records because she was not aware a German spy used their marriage as a cover.

This Saturday has been an interesting snow day.

Jackie snapped 200 pictures is that enough LOL. I will try to whittle that down to a few of the nicer ones tomorrow and post those. You can really see how much the American side of the falls is frozen better from the Canadian side. I am happy we decided to cross over into Canada to check it out. The horseshoe falls in Canada was not nearly as frozen.

Typical...I think not.

Ended up at 72* here in Sedona. Had a great time with friends and even took a Pink Jeep Tour ride to the Hohanki Ruins. Took lots of photos but did not bring my laptop to process them. The Milky Way has not been very bright this weekend, but I gave it my best shot.

Scouted around here at night for potential cool shots for next visit. We'll be returning home tomorrow, but driving through Jerome for a quick visit.

So at the last minute Mike tells me that Styx is playing at the Schremerhorn Symphony Center with the Nashville Orchestra & asks if I want to go. Well Heck yeah! I have been stuck in the house for the better part of a week, of course I want to go. I have been wanting to go to something at the Schremerhorn for a long time & Styx with the orchestra sounded great to me. So we got ourselves together & went & it was great. Here are a few pics:

It was great. Mike was worried the orchestra would ruin the songs but it was like they were there all the time or should have been. There are only a couple of original band members but a third, the original base player made an appearance for a few songs.

Glad you guys had a great time! Claire LOVES Styx!

Shot 97 Sedona photos, about 10 were not very good and were deleted. I'll post up 5 tonight, as these are shot at the Poco Diablo Resort, day and night.

Milky Way was dim on this particular night

I'm guessing that line was a plane, and it was so far away, my eye did not see it, but the Nikon did.

Nice pics Rick!

It is a bone chilling 20 degrees with a still wind this morning and we STILL have snow/ice on the ground. It is hard to believe we were walking around without coats in Gatlinburg in January and have been frozen for over a week in February. I need my coffee then off to work. HAGD crew.

Looks like everyone has been in the cold !! Except for Rick !!

Duramac - - Welcome !!

Jan - - Styx looks like it was a great time with the strings added. I purchased their music in the day, but I still do not get the whole "Mr. Roboto" thing.

Rick - - the night pictures (moon and stars) I found to be the best.

Been working on the car shed since it has been to cold to do anything else. Got about 1/3 of the dry wall left to screwed up. All of the light circuits in the bar and bathroom are done working properly.

A friend of mines house burned down early sunday morning. Everyone got out safely, but they lost everything. Everyone be careful with their space heaters.

We are on the downhill side of winter and spring will be here in less than four weeks.

John
