Is it too late to order a V6 Camaro

Is it too late to order an 2010 LS Camaro V6? I know you can order it at any time, but really don't want to wait until Oct of this year for it. I believe there are still dealers that have allocation in my area, but there is not much.

I had originally ordered a 2010 LS Camaro V6 in the beginning of November from my local dealer. Afterwhich my wife took her Chevy truck to the same dealer for service, long story short they were really rude to her and really jerked her around, in the end blaming her for the problems. At that point I decided that there was no way I was doing business with them and tried to cancel the order (in Nov.) only to be told the deposit was non-refundable. Good thing I used a credit card for the deposit, as it took this long to get my money back.

While I would like to get a Camaro, I am the kind person the must have it (sorry camaro superfans). I would rather wait till next year then be tied to another dealer till Oct. But reading the posts, looks like maybe there will be more V6's built than ordered, so maybe I would get it before Oct. Any thoughts.

It's not too late until they go out of production. Place your order and see what happens. We can't be sure of much when it comes to allocations.

Whatever you buy is going to take a bit if you order it. You have to be patient with new cars because there is always surge of orders that makes them take time.

Good luck to both of you, especially getting that V6 by April-May.

Rodrunner, is your comment meant to indicate that any recent orders would have to waited till Oct or so?

There's no guarantee when you'll get your car one way or the other. The October posts by the people who know simply state that all orders for this allocation WILL be produced by October. But again, you have every chance in the world to get it earlier...

Do you know about allocation? It's the total number of Camaros each dealership was told by GM they would be getting by the end of Q3 2009. If you find a dealer with any of those allocation cars remaining, you should have your car, like interrex said, by Sept.-Oct., even sooner if the dealer has multiple allocations still open. GM is still planning to have all the allocation cars built by the end of October, barring unforseen constraints, etc.

EDIT: Late again!

Can you tell us what dealer that was?

The dealer was Best Chevrolet in Kenner, LA. Avoid at all costs. :middlefinger:

Even the GM was a rude SOB after the service problem.

All dealers will automatically get a V6 Camaro within 45 days of the start of production - (regardless of their allocation).

We (Chevy Dealers) have no control on these V6 cars options or colors. Within 6 months Chevy dealers will receive car #2 regardless of allocation. There will be available color and option packages on this #2 V6 Camaro.

GM is PUSHING the V6 - you shouldn't have an issue finding the V6 Camaro you want.

Rodrunner. I understand the allocation, but as mentioned on several sites, GM plans on building a 50/50 mix of V8 & V6 cars. If +80% of the pre-orders are for V8s (as indicated on many of the forum polls), what it the real possibilty of getting it earlier than the allocation # suggests.
I don't know, just trying to figure it out and see if it is worth it. Plus I am a big guy (tall 6'6" and a bit wide) and a bit concerned about ordering a coupe, that may be small.
But thanks for the posts, either way

That whole situation has been slightly misrepresented across various threads...

They have the capability to pull a V8-influenced 50/50 split. They also plan on building 100,000 thousand cars for the model year. That means they have a year-long ability to produce 50,000 SSs. Right now, pre-orders account for something like 8,000 V8s. That leaves a bit of wiggle-room.

They are also going to built one V6 car per dealer for use as a demo/test-drive car. Those will be the first V6s out of the plant. I don't think anyone here can guestimate when you'll get your car if you order.:(
