Yes and no. While shorty's will give you gains, the gains will be no where as big compared to LT. Though LT need a tune for you to get the full potential out of them. So question is, are you going for numbers here? or do you just want more sound?

You'll get more responses if you post this up in the V6 section.

To answer your question, shorty headers are a waste of money. Since you're on a budget you should save your money until you can spring for the long tubes.

Not true. They do work and well on the v6 for what you pay for and on the v6 you would get 6-8 hp and more bottom end torque which is helpful on this car, and better sound. Legal in Kali also. The Lt's will get more power, about 10 more on top and best for that but the cost is also alot more and a tune is needed also.

And yes go to the v6 section. more info there.

save up for long tubes.. just wait a little longer instead of getting shorties, youll end up switching to long tubes anyways.. i love my long tubes and i got great gains.. with long tubes and a tune i got around 30rwhp

what happens to the cats when you add long tube headers? You remove them or just move them back?

You have to get cats that work with the LT headers. The OEM cats won't fit.

This. Most LT headers have an option to include high flow cats.

As a college student who also is on a budget, I know the feeling. I went with Doug Thorley's. Overall quality, power, and price were my factors. I got them for $309 shipped. However, it was another $300 to get them installed. So, there's a lot to think about; but, I'm happy everytime I nail the gas I got DTs.

Good point there. Most shops will charge you probably 3-4 hours labor, maybe more for the install.

Not entirely true. Some dealers could care less and it would only be an issue for them if the warranty work was expensive enough to have to be approved by GM.

A specific dealership might not care, but if you ever have to go to another one.. might be screwed. And once it's voided doesn't matter what dealership you go to I would assume.
