IT amazes me how many don't get that. .I see guys with stock motors that spec 0/20 pouring in 20/50 because it's RACE oil lol.

VR1 is good also and i sometimes run this
Racing Dominator does have corrosion inhibitors, its in the ZDDP (phosphorus).

that is the theory at least,,, haven't seen one break because of the ZDDP.

I understand that you have done your research but I just wanted to share with you that I use this product day in and ay out in my own car and countless of customers cars/shop cars since the product came out several years ago.

But first we need to define how long is extended drain, 3k miles no issues at all including race track time and street driving. even 4k miles has proven to be ok through oil analysis to baseline the intervals

Valvoline Racing Synthetic (VR1) 20W-50 in Summer with my AGP TT setup with no other engine work. When Winter hits will be changing out to Mobil 1 5w-40 Turbo Diesel.

ON your monster car just run a high zinc phos 10W40 all year around and you wont have to change for summer and winter

I just bought Amsoil 10w30 race oil. I had a major mishap with my engine, and under the piston manufacturers recommendation, they said to use a conventional oil while things seat in. Until I told him that I run oil with high zinc. What a change in tune. Now it's ok. I'm replacing a piston that got beat up. Conventional was recommended because the wrist pin is floating, and because the rings need to re-seat. So, engine oil does make a difference on many levels. I was running VR1 too, and then looked at their numbers compared to Amoil's, to some there isn't that much of a difference, but if you now what you're looking at, Amsoil seems to be the safer option.

Tried Royal Purple ... didn't like it.

Went to Amsoil Z-Rod 10W-30 and have never looked back. Maintains viscosity and stays clean between changes. Engine internals remain cleaner ... RX monster catch can stays as clean as a whistle.

FYI - PFAFF Engines (who built my motor - and have been building legendary marine engines for over 45 years and held many k-boat speed records) use Amsoil in all of their racing marine engines, trophy trucks and sand rails. We're talking about blown LS, small blocks and big blocks making anything from 900 to 2000HP ... being held at redline for up to 20 minus, getting the crap pounded out of them!!!

Go Z-Rod ... get the zinc to protect the cam and mains and big end bearings ... just lose the cats! Easy!

I don't like ANY cats ... the fury ones get on cars and scratch them ... and the steel ones get under the car and slow them down!

Lab analysis report using Valvoline Racing Synthetic (VR1) Motor Oil 20W-50

  • (72) 1/4-mile runs
  • (6) 20min duration road course runs around 2.55 mile track
  • Spirited daily driving in-between
I ran the hell out of the car and should have changed the oil much earlier, but instead figured this would be a good trial of the oil choice.
