The Challenger is priced correctly for the features and performance you get. Also please don't try to compare a 1SS with 1LE to the SRT it would need to be the 2SS with 1lE minimum and it would still be missing features athat are standard on the SRT8. For what it is is the price is correct, not saying a decontented version with cloth seats, non heated steering wheel, basic suspension would be a bad thing though......

I shopped this car also (and the Charger SRT8 SuperBee) before buying my ZL1. I didn't see the value in it. I bought a GT500, owned it one day, then returned it because I felt it wasn't refined enough for me. My ZL is liveable..........LOL!

I'm still considering trading my RAM for the SuperBee to drive everyday and keep the ZL1 for show.

If your looking for liveable the 12/13 Charger SRT8 is an amazing car, comfort, power, looks, technology, nothing like my Ram...

HUH, I was not discussing creature comforts...I was dicussing performance and the 1SS with 1le is comparible in power to weight ratio and in performance parts. That is what this thread was about.

On pricing we will have to agree that we disgree because I disagree completely on pricing. Dodge is way overpriced.

When you look at a price you have to take into account EVERYTHING you are looking at and getting, performance AND creature comforts, in that case it is priced right, notice I also got your point and said a less optioned model would be a good thing. Besides, both the 1LE and SRT8 have different missions in life.

Engineering methods are built around volume... so much material, people, automation, assembly. 24 hours from raw material to a production unit is about as low as a mfg. can get and still keep some decent level of quality. Granted the powertrain and parts are made seperately, then assembled later does help boost quality; but the short build process in sheet metal dictates less detail in the molding process... more generic. Smaller, detailed chassis take more intricate automation... raises cost and quality beyond current pricing.

This is why I prefer the Camaro / Mustang product... more attention to detail, less weight and better quality due to a 36+hour build process as I recall.

No doubt about it the 1SS is a bargain, along with the base 5.0 mustang. I purchased my 1SS in 2010 for 28k then proceeded to dump about 9k into the car trying to get it to perform the way I thought it should. The stereo was still garbage, it didn't have nav, sunroof, halos, leather, and the car needed another clutch, upgraded axles, and it couldn't seat my entire family. I don't need any of these things with the SRT8.

FYI, Camaro and mustang are built using the same process as the Challenger and quality is similar between all 3, that is a fact sir. The size of the car, or "bulkiness" has not a thing to do with the manufacturing process or quality of the car. And you may want to check your facts, 24 hours to assemble a car is a pretty long time. We are talking mass produced cars, not one off Rolls Royces.....

They are great cruiser cars, but they definitely do not feel as sporty as the Camaro.
