Exclamation Which Aftermarket Exhaust is the best for the V6?

I am looking for a good sound, as well as hard numbers (in HP gained) to back it up as to what the best exhaust for the 2010 LT V6 is.

Borla, Corsa, Magnaflow, Flowmaster, etc...

Let the debate begin.........

Exhaust are very personal decisions.... Get some good headphones and then go through all the clips in the above thread...

As for debate... everyone has the best exhaust on their car... why else would they choose it?

I installed the Solo Mach XL on my car tonight. Holy crap! I love it and it took only 30 minutes to do it. The sound is amazing.... Then, I added the Ariaid Cold Air Intake. The sound is so much better its hard to explain and I dont have the ability to record it or I would share.... Get the Solo!

Mine's better than his..

Seriously, scrming's right. Grab a good set of headphones and listen to all the clips, then wait a few weeks and listen to some more new ones as people try out different systems. I've been listening to sound clips since this summer and finally installed a kit from SOLO Performance last month. Great sound but no immediate HP gains on the dyno runs done right after the install was completed. It was perfect for the sound I wanted.

Does anyone else think it is odd that Catbacks don't seem to be giving people much more power than an axle back? Maybe there is not that much restriction in the stock system.

Yep, from the cats back the system seems to flow pretty good... restrictions are going to be further upstream... the cats, manifolds... maybe even the heads...

A good inexpensive way is to take the L99 SS mufflers and put them in. The look and sound will improve for sure. Don’t know about the HP yet but with less restriction there's sure to be some gains maybe 5-7 extra horses.

Here is the link it will answer any questions you may have.

still not completely sold on the SS take-offs... yes they are inexpensive but like you mentioned in your post I think they are going to be pretty raspy! Also part of the reason to do an exhaust is to get rid of those big, heavy, ugly canisters...

ok... my memory is shot... has anyone posted a good HARD LAUNCH and RUN where you really wind the car out?

If you are on a limited budget and can pick up some SS mufflers then it might be a good choice... But if folks are happy with there SS mufflers more power to them! It's all about what makes YOU happy!

I'm stuck between the MRT v2 or some type of flowmaster/magnaflow. Scrming is right though, got to listen to all the ones already posted. Too many different choices!

Of course... the best thing would be to wait until April and come to CamaroFest5! That way I bet you could probably hear almost all the different options in person!

[QUOTE=FISHTAIL;1250342]A good inexpensive way is to take the L99 SS mufflers and put them in. The look and sound will improve for sure. Don’t know about the HP yet but with less restriction there's sure to be some gains maybe 5-7 extra horses.

Anybody thinking of doing this make sure you get the LS3 mufflers (from the V8 MANUAL trans.) Because the L99 mufflers from the V8 auto have restrictive (guts) as our V6 mufflers do......... BUT the LS3 mufflers are straight thru!

Here's a QUOTE from another thread:...
"Make sure you get the LS3 M6 mufflers. The L99 A6 mufflers (which look identical to the LS3 mufflers on the outside) are all crazy looking on the inside and they are NOT straight though in design. They have crazy piping going in a bunch of different directions to help cancel out the AFM noises.
The LS3 mufflers are straight through in design."

The top (1st.) photo shows the V6 muffler opened up.
In My NEXT post I will show the ACTUAL L99 muffler opened up......>

The bottom Photo is the LS3 muffler:

Start up cold, warm idle and in cabin with slow rev, not wide open throttle, to 70 MPH. Tell me what you would like to hear if this isn't what you are looking to see and hear.
The VVT engine doesn't sound good under light load and light throttle at the 2-3K range. You can see I have the engine rev starting at 2k and going to 6k at the end of the vid. Hope this answers the questions concerning what it sounds like a 6000 rpms and what it sounds like with the High Flow Cats.
