I should say, although my expectations are low.... I dream of him showing interest in anything other than sleeping or games. A female would great. Care for a car would be nice. Interest in going out and experiencing being alive would be good. I wish he would go out and be a part of life without doing only bad things, and so far the only things he's done have been things that he shouldn't do. Skip school 130 days this year and have me get threatened by the law. Go to an underage beer party. Get into fist fights and have the law after me. Sleep all night and day. Sleep while he was supposed to go to work. Sleep while he was supposed to do something we asked him. Fail each and every class this year in school. The VP at the school told me that he's impressed, he's never seen a child actually fail every single subject across all semesters.

But just maybe..... Maybe this car will have some magical transformational effect on the kid? I pray.

Wow, sorry to hear that one. It must be tough watching that happen. I mean, the beer parties, fights, whatever... if that was occurring and he was doing great in school, had goals, etc. then perhaps it'd be just a "boys will be boys." I guess he just needs to figure out that playstation won't pay the bills... but if he doesn't have any, then I guess he's doing alright for himself!

Failing every class... that's just no good. Nothing motivates him at all besides video games?

the Kid sounds normal to a degree.. and will prob phase/grow out of it at some point, lets hope. I know when I was younger I had little interest in many of my fathers hobby's and interest, and he would always try to include me and teach me things, I had to pay attention or I would never get back to doing what I wanted to do, and while at the time we both prob did not realize it, Alot got imbedded into the back of my mind. And I find myself more like my dad then I ever had figured I would be and sharing the same interests [but I still play video games a lot lol] My advice is be a guiding a hand, just not a forceful one unless necessary. And a interest in a woman usually fixes a lot as you said, or makes it worse if shes a heartbreaker lol

My younger brother was a mess too when he was a kid.. partied with dumb kids all the time and failed in most subjects and would skip classes.. since he got married he got mature and responsible and has a good job now. So may be your kid will be out of this phase and take stuff more seriously soon.

He used it to commute 40 miles each way from his place up north, came down 376 to Beaver and then over to the Norfolk Southern rail yard in Conway. On days calling for snow he drove his 4x4 truck. Not a ding on it. Passenger rocker had a rust hole, no other rust. Original exhaust still looks good. Everything works, engine is smooth and quiet, tans feels tight.

Need to fix rocker, and get the noise cone straightened. He hit the nose into a pole and broke the plastic Doo-hickeys that hold it on, he used sheet metal screws to hold it in. Paint is cracked on nose from flexing.

It will smolder the right rear tire from a stand still.

For a 17 year old kid, I think it's a bad ass car. My son offered $900 and the guy agreed to it.

Nice! My first car was a 94' with the 3.4 that I paid for by waiting tables. Everyone loved it, the 3.4 (as far as v6's go) actually didn't sound all that bad in my opinion. The top end is a little anaemic. I have to say they are safe though, after 3 years of ownership we hit a pothole and the steering went out, hopped a curb and went headfirst into a telephone pole at 45mph, the pole snapped in half and my buddy and I walked away unscathed.

Oddly [gayly?] enough I was thinking about you actually playing hockey when I typed that.

And while I would love to, I never learned to skate. Sad, but true -- I was afraid I would fall and someone would run over my fingers. I'm not kidding, either
