August day in AZ. Ill guarantee it was at least 115 out. The dyno was pretty deep inside the building. Its possible it wasnt 115 in there. The guy that tuned it is VERY respected around here so I know its not tune related. When I lived in TX on 93, the car only did 457whp. Not that worried about the numbers, just surprised more than anything.

Hmm, well I hope you get it straightened out. It looks like your tq is way down as well. Weather and available octane does seem to have a significant effect. Luckily up here in the north east we get 93 octane and high 90s to low 100s max in the middle of Summer...but only about once every couple years, lol!! Will you get it tuned again? Why didn't you check the grind number when you got the cam? It also never hurts to take a micrometer to a cam to check the specs.

I say supposedly because the car dyno'd significantly lower than any other car out there, on 93 and 91. Need to pull cam one day and check the grind number on the back.
Maybe outside...the dyno shows 91*.....right on the paper. Seems like there are a lot of post claiming how hot it was the day of their dyno.
Sucks about 91 octane though. Everywhere I've ever been has had 93.

2010 SS Tuned at Next Level Performance in Orlando

2010 SS Tuned at Next Level Performance in Orlando
SLP Supercharger
RotoFab intake
BBK shorty headers
SLP exhaust with Muffler delete.
Final result: 493.06 WHP, 467.19 Max Torque
gains vs stock: 129.47 HP, 100.95 Max Torque

In the first pic, runfile1 is a stock SS on the same Dyno, so no one can claim it's all the dyno
The second pic shows the gains from JUST the custom tune, vs. the mail-in tune it had before.

2010 ls3

CAI intake
scoop
stainless power LT with HFC
tune

No base dyno was ever done before hand. So pretty happy about making 428/427 on the dyno. My next step would be cams. Question is would cams get me to 500. My guess is no, probably be short by roughly 20hp or so. So what else besides going turbo or supercharger would get me there. My only other thought would be a ported IM. should get be pretty close to my 500 number

Just for your personal knowledge, the LSx (i.e LS1, LS3, LS7, etc) only have ONE cam. It's an OHV single Camshaft motor. So your next step would be A cam, not cams. As far as you making 500rwhp, I made 498, and that was with aftermarket heads that were ported and milled. So I can tell you first hand, you're gonna need headwork to reach 500. Or you are gonna need to get dyno tuned on a very happy dyno if you want to see that number.

HAHA thanks I know its cam and not cams, came from the v6 community where we had 4 cams in the v6 models. I see your point of the amount of work to squeeze that much more power. I knew it would be a stretch to get 50hp let alone 70hp min for that elusive 500 number. Had not thought about doing the heads so will have to consider. Thanks

Gotcha. Well welcome to the LS3/L99 world!! 500 rwhp isn't elusive, it's just a bit tricky and requires a bit more coin to achieve. But one thing, don't get tied up in a number, the real performance will be at the track. I just ran a 12.4 at the track today, spinning through first and second, because I can't hook with 498rwhp.

You have a few options as far as heads go :

1. buy a spare set of LS3 heads and send them off to WCCH, or AI to get ported

2. have your own heads ported while they are off the car (requires more down time though)

3. Buy some Trick Flow Gen X 255 heads (you can mill them aggressively which will raise your compression and give you more power)

4. Buy some PRC heads and do the same thing.

Once again, it all depends on how much you want to spend, and how far down the rabbit hole you want to travel, lol.

Thanks for the tips, yea I know the dyno numbers are not that important and it's just a tool to measure hp on a given day. It's the track. I will have to see . But you have given me new stuff to consider so I guess I will wait it out until tax season because either way it big bucks . Thanks again

well here's my dyno sheet. i got to admit it looks much too high. the car is stock everything only have a napa air filter and goodyear eagles. the run was on a dynojet at dynosaur performance inc in saginaw, tx. there were other camaro ss that were stock and tested at 360-375rwhp. any ideas on these numbers?
