lighter so similar power to weight...we all know how well that 7.0 LS7 runs in a Z06. My bet is 11.8@120 in a magazine test. Real world on a fast track will put it in the 11.5 range.

300 lbs lighter vs 80 more ponies. I would be that they are pretty close. Anybody know what gears the Z/28 will have?

I dunno...I'd have to give the edge to 580 hp over 500...My old rule of thumb is hp always adds to top end speed...but who knows...lol...

That rule of thumb only works when comparing cars with close to the same weight and other factors.

Just look at how fast the Z06 does with the LS7 because it's so light.

3.91:1. These cars will be close at the drag strip. My bet is the ZL1 with Auto trans should walk it. Unless they bump up a lot over 500 HP, the ZL1 will have better power to weight.

The Z/28 isn't meant for the drag strip. Neither is the ZL1 for that matter.

7.5% lower weight, 13% less HP.

The Z28 does not exist for the 1/4 mile. It exists or the track. PERIOD. It will be fast for sure down the straight. Just not faster.

I have seen bone stock Z06s run 10.70-10.80@128 at MIR in really good air...amazing because just 505hp vs LS9 powered ZR1 cars run 10.60@132 stock with drag radials. The LS7 is amazing and the gearing in the transmission of the ZR1 hurts the 1/4 mile performance. Lets say the Z28 is 800lbs heavier than the Z06 so we can add .8/8mph approximately to the best Z06 stock runs with perfect traction in great air. That extrapolates to 11.50-11.60@120 with very crude fudge factors assuming similar gearing to the Z06.

Z/28: 3820 lbs/505 HP = 7.56 lbs/HP

ZL1 Coupe: 4120 lbs / 580 HP = 7.1 lbs/HP

Number 3 is correct.

...my take. Milford proving grounds yields a 3 second gain of the Z/28 over the ZL1 per lap as reported by Chevy. I have no idea what the layout is. My thoughts are. A short track, with many tight turns and short straightaways will give the Z/28 an advantage. A bigger track, with wider corners/radiuses and longer straightaways will give the ZL1 the advantage. Inherently, these cars are not designed from the get go for the quarter mile.
