1LE quality hold Apr-May 2013

Hello,
I have a 1LE on order and it was due for delivery in mid Apr. The sales guy tells me the issue is a "quality hold" on all 1LE's and ZL-1's due to the rear wheels. he did hint that is wa related to the "rear end", but did not understand what the true issue was.The funny thing is that the 1LE and ZL1 have different wheels. He did not know how long the hold will be, but expect it to not be more than a month.
Do anyone have any other info or rumors?

Welcome to Camaro5!
The 1LE and ZL1 do have the same wheels, the tires are the same make and model, just a different size (285 on 1LE and 305 on ZL1). I haven't heard of any reasons for recent holds though. You may want to post this question on the Ordering/Tracking thread to see if anyone else has any ideas for the hold.

Just to clarify: 1LE and ZL1 have the same wheels (20x10 on front and 20x11 on rear). The tires on the ZL1 are 285/35ZR20 [Front] and 305/35ZR20 [Rear]. The tires on the 1LE are 285/35ZR20 on all four corners.

Some one mentioned that the temperature up in Oshawa dropped a bit. And, since the tires are very sensitive to low temps as they tend to crack, it's been speculated that GM doesn't want to move the cars and risk damaging the tires.

Welcome.

The reason is unknown and unless your dealer knows someone inside the plant the hold reason is most likely not know by him either.

Search the threads under TPW 4/22 or 4/29 and there is more I do in those threads.

That was a few weeks ago and te temp is now plenty warn enough to move the cars. Some 1LE that were bayed have been released

It's not temperature related. It is a quality hold from what I've heard.

They might not have the wheels. I know this was a problem in march when I went to order. Might be a supply issue.

I doubt they would produce the cars if they didn't have the wheels. I've never seen GM send a car down the assembly line without all of the ordered parts. That seems like a clusterf&*% waiting to happen.

I would have to agree. If it is a wheel issue, I would assume it is a wheel problem or a suspected problem with the wheel that has caused the delay, not a lack of wheels.

Yeah, the cars are being sent out for the hood wrap and stipes, so there is no issue with not having wheels. I highly doubt anyone will hear what the actual hold is about, even after it has been completely lifted.

However, it does seem a few 1LEs have been trickling through, unfortunately not in order of TPW

We might find out down the line if it isn't resolved and those parts start failing.

As much as the wait sucks, the cars on hold will not leave until the problem is resolved beyond the shadow of a doubt, and that is a good thing!

Yes it is. I just hope it's fully resolved. I would rather get my car later and right then with issues I have to deal with because then you hope your dealer's service department is competent.
