I used pen magnets. pull the pushrods and extend the magnets down to the lifters and when you hear the "click" of the magnet grabbing the lifter pull up slightly, like less than half inch and they'll stay put. Agkelly may have pics after we put the magnets in, U can PM him and see if he does.

I can try once i get the tune.. it may be next week before i can get it done tho.
Great, I cannot wait to see. I hope others will do the same with both cams.

As far as I know everyone gets their CAM's from Comp., so without have all the CAM specs. and comparing them individually in the same vehicle on a dyno. it's hard to tell which one is better.
For example; a larger CAM should produce more power, but, what about the rest of the engine upgrades rods, springs, rockers, etc...?
The choice in CAM and the other upgrades you do go hand, and hand along with what you're trying to accomplish overall. ie - Big CAM power, vs booster CAM for an SC.

What cam did you get? Can you please post your dyno? I didn't really say what is better, I just want to see some comparison in the curves and feel of the cams. For instance, one can have a bit more less torque on the low end then the other. LG keeps their specs secret so cant really compare that away.

All you have to do to keep the lifters up is this: After you remove the rocker arms, pushrods, and timing chain, just spin the cam by hand several times. The cam lobes themselves will push the lifters up and they will stay up. I did mine and left it overnight and the lifters did not come down at all. Now remove the cam retainer plate and pull the cam out

Not always pal, u can be in a world of poo when a lifter drops onto the windage tray
Seen it happen 2 times now since 1999, I would NOT do a cam change without the rods or pen magnets.

+1000!

Totally not worth it taking the chance.

Best part is that you can make your own rods by taking a 36" piece of 1/4-3/16" Steel from Lowes/THD/ETC, cut it in half and use it to keep the lifters up while removing/reinstalling the cam.

It'll cost ya a whole $3.

Tell me that's not the smartest money you'll ever spend after trying to get the lifter that fell.....

Best of luck and let's see some results!

Is this a D/D or not? I used a TSP 233/233 in my 4th gen and I loved in it my D/D.

How much bigger is the G6X3?

Bill

20,000 miles in 6 months... you determine if my camaro is a daily driver or not

a 4th gen has a ls1.... this is an ls3.... two totally different motors. Generally speaking, the 233/233 in an ls1 is going to be more radical (less "driveable") than a 231/236 cam in an ls3. You are comparing apples to oranges there.

I believe the g6x3 has one or two more degrees on the intake... I can't remember the rest off the top of my head.... and it is on a narrow lsa.

I have installed both the TSP 231/236 and the G6X3, the TSP cam does drive better with stock 3.45 gears, but I am at 7000 feet above sea level.
but on the other hand my wife daily drives a 2010 with the G6X3 with no issues.
I think they are both great cams and both companies are great to deal with

If I would have known this I would have done it. I dont like to cut corners

BTW: my vote goes to the G6X3. I felt the 231/236 is too mild. I like em wild
