It's better that happened before you take delivery so you get it already fixed.

You will be fine I am in manufacturing and you know what i tell my customers. NEW stands for Never Ever Worked. New things fail and they usually fail out of the box or never. Thats why everyone wants to sell extended warranties.

I wouldn't worry about it because even new things from the factory break sometimes. You should ask the tech what his 1/4 mile time was.

I guess there was a reason they called drag racing legend Grumpy Jenkins grumpy. He had trouble in the beginning too. Sorry for taking this thread in his direction, but he just died recently and the rear end trouble posted by the OP, just made me feel "grumpy" which then led me to think of Grumpy Jenkins!
I see he just recently passed away. He was one of the big ones who made the most of Chevy muscle cars! Let us know what happens with your car, but while you're passing time, check out the interesting facts of how Grumpy made a 327 small block outrun the big block 426 hemi's and more! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Jenkins_(drag_racer) |

It's probably nothing, but it MIGHT be abuse. If you brought a new car back to them because the rear end was whining, they would likely investigate for abuse too. Trust but verify.

Thanks to all who have responded. I have been very verklempt and bummed out wanting to get my baby home to her spa. Your responses have made me feel like maybe this isn't such a big deal. My dealership has always been great and I'm grateful they let me know about this rather than me finding out after delivery. They assure me the whole rear end will be replaced as opposed to just the gears.

So what you're saying is that your rear-end was screwed?? Not enough smilies in the world to compensate for that one....
Sorry dude...GM will take care of you AND replace your rear end as good as new... LOL!

Rear end is a quick swap you should be rolling in no time. Good that they noticed it...
Also try and find out EXACTLY what the issue was... |

Car was ordered from Holiday Chevy in Williamsburg on 10/29/11. Also ordered my previous 2010 SS from them and they have been excellent.

the 373's are going to be noisier than stock ones.. those American Gears are awesome and I would bet the tech just has never heard them before. I hope they dont tear it apart and try and set them up themselves. See if they will let you break them in.. I am pretty sure its like a 1500 mile break in on the gears before the seat anyway. IMO you have a mechanic that is used to normal gears and set up not full on perfomance gears. Go grab him by his neck...lol
