Import Match-up

Ok I know the Subaru WRX sti has several threads on it but I know the mods on this one. So my friend has a a 2007 Subaru WRX sti with intake, 'complete exhaust' no tune, and some-kind of racing clutch. He claims it ran a 12.7 in mid-summer houston weather (100s with 95% humidity) I have a stock 2010 SS L99 that's ran in the 12.8s before. In December I'll be getting intake, full exhaust, tune, drop springs and sways, and a nice set of 3.73s Do I have a chance stock or should I wait?

I don't know about this one. If his claim in true then he should be somewhere around a mid 12 sec car, whereas you're high 12s at best stock. Oh you'd definitely take him right back though with those mods...

Stop bench racing and just run. Who gives a shit if you lose or not? What, you only gonna race if you win? Think about that...how much of a loser only races when he knows he can win. Oh, and I think you're friend is bullshiting you, telling you he's running mid-12s without a tune. They're quick cars, but not that quick if all he's got is an intake and catback and some sort of "racing" clutch, especially in that sort of weather. Maybe if Jesus was driving.

That match up completely depends on the driver.. both those cars are low 13 sec cars high 12s on a good day. If he can drive and he is willing to launch the car properly he will beat you from a hole shot. It would be very close. Id wait til you got your bolts done! lol

First I find it hard to believe the car isn't tuned. 99% of STi owners with an intake and full exhaust will also have some sort of engine management to adjust boost, etc.

But even it the car isn't tuned it will be making more boost than stock because of the intake and full exhaust. My STi was actually over boosting (boost creep) with an intake and full exhaust. That's why it should have some sort of engine managmement to adjust boost and fuel cut.

I had an STi will similar mods and it ran 12.7s in the 1/4 mile. It launched like a MOFO (1.6-1.7 sec 60' launching at 5000 rpms on the stock tires). But it didn't have all that much top end trapping 105 mph or so.

I dont see a 07 wrx with the mods listed running that time. If it was a newer 09-10 it could be believable, go run and report back.

at the end of the day...his will be look like a boys car, and yours will look like a mans car. Practice getting off the line. All in all, this is why you should have got the LS3 manual.

If he really has "full" exhaust and no tune, he's not going to be running for very long or very well. If he is tuned and lying for some reason, with those parts he has a car capable of mid 12s on pump gas. Sounds like he is lying about something. . .
