Our new SS arrived today...

Camaro

Still working on a pithy name.. but she arrived here Saturday night.

We have until SEMA to transform the car, mostly in terms of performance, but some visual stuff as well. I think Camaro Performers is one of the few magazines with an actual project car.

It's a 2SS/RS M6 LS3 car.

First up will be baseline testing - Slalom, skidpad, braking, chassis dyno.

Then:

Suspension
Brakes
Tuning
engine upgrades
???

Anything involving performance will have before and after testing. After SEMA the SS will be driven in the Optima Ultimate Streetcar Invitational by Camaro Performers Editor Nick Licata. I guess I had better put together a good car for him. lol

Here she is.. since we only get her for the summer I'm leaning towards the name "Project Summer Fling" lol

Looking for story ideas... too bad I can nab an LS9 from GM.. lol

In a way I agree, but it would be good to see if bigger brakes actually make the car stop better (or resist fade better).

To be honest the best "bang for the buck" brake upgrade would be a set of CTS-V brakes. They just bolt right on.

Steve, I'd like to see you add some of your subtle and custom paint touches to the car. Something like your previous 4th gen perhaps?

Yeah the Brembo's are nice, I am going to get ceramic pads for them as soon as they come out though. Hate brown brake dust.

Yea, I sort of wish it didn't have the stripes.. limits my creativity.

Paint/graphics will be last on the list.. maybe by then there will be some cool body options on the market.
