Passport 9500ci

Guys, Just wanted to let you this detector works. Talking to the wife in the car this weekend I was running 12 over and got lit up by a laser slowed down and checked the mirrors, the officer was checking his gun could not read my speed . Saved me about $250 need to slow down.

Mine has saved me 4 times already. Worth every penny. The thing I like the most is that there are no false alarms.

Don't have the CI, but I do have the top of the line windshield mounted 9500 (I think it's the 9500, have to check the box). Saved me last night twice, though the second time I was only doing 2 over. First time was 5 over.

Probably wouldn't have gotten ticketed either way, but I quickly changed the speed control down to the exact speed limit and drove on by happily. Both times I almost certainly would have been able to slow down even if I was 10 over...

Waste of money. If that thing went off you were getting hit by radar, not lidar. Eventually (assuming you're all speed demons) you'll get hit with a lidar and will need the $250 you spent on a radar detector for your ticket. You can't beat the lidar regardless of what the companies say.

You should really just learn how to pay attention more, cops aren't invisible, if they can see you, you can see them.

I have the 9500ix Escort, and I can pick up a state trooper on the interstate miles away. It reminds you to check your speed before it's too late.

I was going to post my usual counter-point about how you'd need a jammer instead until I googled Passport 9500ci and read the following in an article:

"The 9500ci radar detector includes a ZR4 laser shifter, also called the Shifter ZR4. If you want to improve the Passport 9500ci operation, we can optionally add a Blinder X-Treme laser jammer that defeats all laser guns"

So...I guess if you pair the Passport and the Blinder...and avoid driving like a jack-hole....you're golden.

ide get one but in dubai you got a radar every mile or two so you would be slowing down and accelerating so much you would get sea sick

Hey gents?

First off, just about everybody in any car will run over the speed limit. (I am a former Police Officer and realized that). So ease off on the OP! Can someone tell me on this forum, that you have never gone over the speed limit in your camaro's? God I hope the answer is no. Anyway, be careful on the Radar or Lazer jammers. Some states have laws making it illegal to have jammers. All of us will at some point be over the posted limit, be it 5 or even 10 over, and at least the OP stated he needed to slow down a little as opposed to bashing Law Enforcement for doing the job that they were sworn to do. I realize that some Officers have that God complex, but I can state from experience that not all are like that. I personally didn't pull anyone over until they hit 15 over, and a large majority of officers in my area had the same personal policy. Just keep your eye's open, and check that speed a little more frequently

There are way too many goody two shoes on this thread. With states trying to make up the budget with citation income the average citizen needs some tools to remind them when they are speeding. The average ticket in CA is now $500 so avoiding one ticket IS a big deal. I seriously doubt if most people are trying to break any speed records with the help of a radar/laser detector.

Maybe we just need reasonable speed limits that are in line with the technology of today's automobiles.

Will the cop know, without seeing the jammer, that you jammed him? He just get a false reading? Then pull you over anyways for having it?

No, He will have an idea that you have a jammer. Now it is up to him or her to pull you over (he or she won't be able to articulate why) and then see that you have a jammer and then write you for it!! (that is personal vengeance IMO)

I fully agree with you on that point. Our legislators are so afraid that by mearly suggesting this, they will lose votes. That my friend is the unfortunate part. It's not about doing right by the citizens anymore. It's about guaranteeing themselves 2 or 4 more years
