Blacked Out ticket?

Are the stealth smoke taillight armor too dark that in the day time you could get a ticket for the brake light being hindered?

Yes, you can.

A lot of the laws are written... according to "Officer's discretion".

Like here in Iowa, you get 1,000 different interpretations of the same law.

Some officers will let you get away with it, while others nail your hide to the wall.

I have mine blacked out with the kit from headlight armor and the lights are still very bright. Even at night, if you didnt know I had the kit on, you would not be able to tell

When i see a cop near or behind me, i just turn on my headlights, so my brake lights are lit up.

There's always some worthless jealous cop out there who'll write you for tinted tail lights. Fortunately, I've avoided it so far. Same for no front plate. Some things are worth a ticket though.

I think I sent you an email reply yesterday afternoon. If you didn't receive it it may have been filtered as junk, though it was a reply.

For legality, you would need to check with your local jurisdiction. Vehicle inspection criteria are usually a good starting point. We make no guarantees to any of our products' street legality, not even for the clear headlight protection kits.

Most states have some sort of distance requirements. That said the darker you go the more they are going to stand out during the day.

We do have night taillight testing photos here http://www.headlightarmor.com/smoked...-at-night.aspx
That said even with our darkest material 20% Stealth Smoke the running lights were still visible at 1000 ft on our test - linked above.

Customer photo with Stealth Smoke taillights during the day.

Hope those help, let us know if you have any other questions.

If you are going to smoke it out pass 20%, (usually 20 - 24%) LED tailights are preferred as they have a much higher diffusion rate compared to ordinary tailight lamps. Their intensity is brighter when braking and thus have a wider yield in distance legal parameters.
