New Supercharger kit available from Kraftwerks

Kraftwerks contacted us some months ago about a new kit to be hitting the market and provided me with a prototype kit to test fit, and write the calibration for.

The kit is going to be priced very attractively for the budget minded hot rodder.

Fit and finish is nice.

Installation is Easy.

Performance is impressive given the size of the Charger.

Test subject is our local customer Jason 2010 Camaro LS3 with Dynatech Headers and cats no other mods.

The calibration was a breeze and put down 522 RWHP 465 RWTQ at a subtle 6.3 psi boost on 93 octane.

We have a smaller supercharger pulley to test to make up for the boost loss with the headers and high flow cats we will be testing as well.

Rotrex Supercahrger head unit.
Cast aluminum powder coated brackets
Aluminum washer bottle and aluminum radiator overflow tanks black powder coated.
Comes standard with Cog Drive system no belt slip ever.
ATI Super Damper standard
Large 4 inch thick front mount intercooler
3 inch intercooler piping black powder coat.
Silicone couplers throughout.
Bypass valve with option to recirculate or open to atmosphere
Washable air filter
Self contained oil system with oil cooler and reservoir, 50,000 mile oil change intervals
ZR-1 injectors
ZR-1 map sensor
NGK TR7IX plugs
All included in the kit

Has a nice little whine to it.

Drives like stock until you get on it.

Over all we are impressed with the quality of this kit.

More to come stay tuned with JRE

That is a decision that Kraftwerks will make I have made a suggestion and they liked it.

All I can tell you is it will be priced very competitively and below other similar offerings.

Ted.

Sounds good to me, been looking for a cheaper option that still retains quality craftsmanship. nitrous is fun but time for a dedicated power adder

That is my car it is being tested on. I drove it today and I am very pleased with the outcome. It makes a nice little whine/ whistle while driving. Ted and his team did a fantastic job installing the kit and answering all of my questions.

For my understanding, why is boost lost with headers? Was this with longtube headers or shortys?

What power level is this supercharger capable of?

Does this supercharger get heat soaked?

Sorry for the beginner questions..

Scavenging affect of the headers increases airflow which creates less back pressure which lowers boost a little bit. They are long tube headers. Centrifugal superchargers don't generally get heat soaked since they aren't bolted directly on top of the engine. They do generate some heat but nothing compared to a pd blower or turbo

Is there room to grow on this kit or is it close to being maxxed out since you said its smaller than other competitors? And why does the torque seem low compared to other FI cars?

The torque is very comparable to other centrifugal kits making tha same boost. Changing the pulley should bring the boost on sooner and make more torque. There is room to grow as we can spin this thing faster. How much? That is to be found out.

Boost is a product of restriction, when you get rid of the restriction of the factory manifolds and cats by adding long tube headers and high flow cats you pick up power and increase air flow across the cylinder head lowering the boost reading, typically about 1 psi.
