INTERESTING: LS3 (Camaro) V8 vs Ford Boss 315

This is such an interesting article about Ford vs Chevy in the high end muscle car market in Australia. It pits the LS3 equipped Holden HSV vs the Boss 315 5.4 liter equipped Ford FPV. Clearly, Ford can compete and compete well with the Boss engine. Many of the reviewers liked the FPV better. The Ford 5.4 V8 is clearly more advanced with DOHC and more valves. Will this Boss 315 be the engine in the next Mustang? If so, Chevy should be in for an even match. Here is the article:

I know there have been rumors of the Boss making it into the next Mustang, but I think Ford said they'd be holding off on that for another year or so.

Frankly I wish they would drop it in for the 2010 model; the more competition the better.

wow those are a couple neat cars, why don't we get them in the US, ford seems to be ignoring the 4 door sport/luxury market, and leaving it to merc/bmw/dodge/pontiac/caddy

Just buy a GTO or a G8, same cars.

It will be interesting to see what happens in the near future if Ford does indeed install this motor into the new and supposedly lighter mustang…

I'm not totally sure a comparison of Camaro to a G8 is quite fair yet. They both ride on very similar platforms, but they could be pretty different dynamically. I can see the comparison in engines, although, I wouldn't necessarily agree with your statement that, "The Ford 5.4 V8 is clearly more advanced with DOHC and more valves." Just because an engine, or anything for that matter, has more parts doesn't necessarily make it more advanced. I haven't seen a naturally aspirated V8 Ford make 505 (conservative) horsepower, unlike an LS7; let alone comparing a GT500 5.4L to the LS9. Sure, it's 5.4 vs 6.2 but ~500 horse'vs. 639?... Uhh huh... Titanium rods and intake valves, hollow sodium exhaust valves, billet main caps, dry sump oiling, I can go on. IMVHO, just because it's DOHC, doesn't mean it's more advanced. It means there's more to break
