USB ports do not charge...

My USB port in the armrest plays music just fine from my Iphone or memory stick just fine but will not charge anything including my Samsung phone and GoPro camera.

Same thing when using the Cigarette 12v port using a USB adapter. Nothing charges from any of the 3 places you can hook up devices.

This is a 2012 with no my link. ...any ideas

My warranty expires today and the car is in for another cosmetic issue so I can add this as well.

Yeah, I forgot to say this is while traveling down the road.

We tried charging everything (Iphone6, SamsungS3, GoPro) and even swapped out lighter socket adapter.

But the one inside the armrest connects and plays music as soon as it's plugged in. Maybe the fuse is separate from that.

Anyone know what fuse it is?

The USB port and 12v socket are seperate (unless I'm misunderstanding you). The 12v socket gets power from the fuse panel (F17 I believe), the USB gets power from the radio. I haven't tested, and while the (computer) USB spec has voltage on the port, it may not be present, or not sufficient in the Chevrolet implementation to charge devices.

CORRECTION: according to the pdf in the sticky, the USB port should charge attached devices. Granted, how quickly will depend on the device. In any case, if it's not working (ie: charging) at all, I'd suspect a radio/PDIM issue.

BINGO... just picked up from the dealer and F17 was blown.

The USB port must not be charging very much because it's also playing music. I'll have to watch that one a little closer, but the main one used for charging is now fixed.

Luckily I have the best service writer out there (David Croft) also his C5 name. They fixed up my noisy rear end and other cosmetic stuff too. Nice having someone who actually knows all the Camaro details. And no he didn't change out my key fob

Thanks!!

the built in usb-port is terrible anyways, won't output close to 500mA

well, you have to have your phone in very low power state(preferably off) in order to charge it

I think I measured < 0.3A max draw from the usb port I could be wrong but it was between 0.1A and 0.3A so it sucks charging up stuff and your phone could be losing charge if used for navigation or streaming music

To test, turn the phone off, and then connect it and see if it charges.

My fix was a simple fuse, but it was the cigarette lighter port using an adapter to USB. I don't use the one in the armrest for the above reasons.

Just get one of these.

Can you still play music when using the USB port?

Yeah my music plays fine just doesn't charge, ok so it's pretty much the fuse thanks! Let me ask you a ??? I read on your page you had a noise coming from the rear end of your car can you describe it for me? & what was the problem? Am having the same issue with a noise on my rear drivers side & I hear when I start to pull off slow its sound like a duck quacking type noise but when I continue on the road the noise goes away... What could that be? Thanks
