Thanks for the info everyone. I think I'm going to give the big comp2's a shot. With my driving style being so different one day to the next, I think an all arounder would be good. One minute I'm cooking along at 80ish on a highway, then next I will find myself on some wv backroads. Good thing is most wv backroads are well banked and well maintained. But there will be some sketchy times as well. Not to mention tire rack having the on special for $160 each. Certainly worth the shot.

I don't think you'll be disappointed...

I've got 22k miles and still plenty of life left. Liked the GY but anytime the temp was below 50 they felt like tires on a kids power wheels! The MPSS are some of the best tires I have owned.

Agreed I have almost 40k on my mpss rear tires and not quite to the wear bars yet. Those gy were nice handling but ice skates in the rain and the fact that I only got 16k on the rears really stunk.

wow.

I have 25k on my first and only set of GYs (still driving them, they're getting ready to swap but I still have a couple thousand left in them). why are you going through tires so fast? do you track?

Let me know how you like them. I'd definitely give them a shot for $160 each.

BFG Comp-2 A/S's in 285 all around for ~4K miles now......my street tire since last November. They are a heck of a deal for a UHP A/S tire that can take cold, rain, icy or a little snowy conditions. The Michelin A/S 3+ is twice the price! The W speed rated BFG is being phased out for the new Y speed rated. 160 for the older tire....about 175 for the new one. Don't know if there are any actual differences in the two versions.

I will be going back to sticky tires for spring-to-fall street tires next year. But wanted to try these in the warm weather. They are OK in the warm weather, tho....better than I thought they'd be.

BFG G- Force Comp2 A/S. Best bang for the buck. Great wear for daily driver, take them to the track and you won't be disappointed. Superior rain traction.

I just replaced my stock GY's for the Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 tires yesterday. I haven't driven them in the rain yet, but so far they feel VERY good. Of course, I'm not sure if they feel that much better b/c they're new, but they have incredible road feel, probably better than the GY's, the turn-in is sharp, and the on-center feel is very good too. Not to mention the tread pattern looks sick! It supposedly has good tech for wet weather driving, so I'm curious to see how that goes, especially here in FL. They also have a much higher treadwear rating than the GY's (340 on the Indys), so I'm expecting about 35,000 miles on them. I got them installed at Tires Plus for about $900 out the door, plus a tire hazard warranty.

There isn't much info out there about them because they just came out this past spring, but Tire Rack has a review of them that seemed very positive.

Let us know how it goes prime. I'm not willing to sacrifice handling so I couldn't pull the trigger. Hopefully they are a worthy contender.
