Wow...

Honestly just have it professionally done. There's no way you're going to able to do it all yourself. And buy a gun lol

Shouldnt have to repaint, all is a thin layer of spray paint on the clear, should be able to compound and polish it off. Your car will actually look better than before.

Correct me if im wrong, but you dont have to actually pay the deductible right? Progressive will cut a check for the damage, less your deductible?

Also, an acetone solution can do it too.

I got in a wreck and had some paint on my car scraped off of the other car, and my friends dad (owns a body shop), walked up with a rag and a bottle of acetone and just wiped the paint off, without damaging my paint.

That really sucks.

Most shops will waive the deductable to get the work and sometimes in exchange for running their shops sticker on the deck lid.

They love advertising on newer cars its really good for buisness.

You're a 100% correct and these cars paint and clearcoat is very durable against this stuff.
since they test the paint to withstand gasoline just in case some gets on the car at the pump

so angry for you... sure hope that they don't make you pay the deductible for it..

i'd go apeshit if this happened to me...

my first thoughts on revenge...
maybe put a sign with a message to make them do something else.. and then hidden camera for them to get busted... or camp out and literally bust them up

okay guys.... DO NOT USED ACETONE. please use paint thinner on the GM surfaces and then ACETONE on the non GM surfaces.

Reason being. GM uses PPG water Borne Clear coats. Water Borne you use acetone and it "COULD ; Not will becuase as everyone has mentioned it is UV hardened paint"

On the NON GM- Use acetone as it will not react the same most likely due to the company not using Water borne paint. However I would call and confirm with whomever you used to paint it.

My Two cents for the day. Don't use insurance and have to pay the deductible.

I would get insurance to do it, if your comp is $500 its better to pay it in my opinion..most major insurance places will work with you on it if you don't have the $500, maybe payments, or the shop that does the work can work out the payments, they get the full check minus your deductible, I would imagine the shop would be willing to work with you on the payments on the $500 to get the big check from the insurance company.....

you get in there and monkey with it, mess it up and then its not comp any more..........
